Okay. So the DM server is in desperate need of some admin attention. There's a moron who has been on there daily for a few weeks now just casually aim botting. Everyone knows the server has a dwindling, diminishing player base and this will only accelerate it. He's called out on it, doesn't deny it. Some classic signs in the demos, like you know, hitting a target he isn't even looking at. And then other times the auto aim shoots at a floor (player on the other side). Thought it was Residue, but it's someone else picking up where he left off. Of course he changes his alias every 5 minutes but I've got a bunch of demos here that show what I'm talking about.

Why would anyone ever bother playing there if some dickhead is just going to pick people off with auto aim all day long?

First video is absolutely suspect. The way their chain immediately snaps from one person to the next makes it obvious.

That being said, the DM server should probably be shut down and replaced with another server with more active moderation and clearer rules at this point. Over two weeks of dudes aimbotting on the server is insane.

People like Skyline were never the problem. There are tons of people who cheated back in the day that still play and don't cause any issues. His problem was that he would spend hours calling people the n word and accusing others of cheating with no evidence and that went away when he was muted.

The real problem is that nobody who is in charge actually plays the game so they're just banking on the idea that someone will just reach out if there's a problem, but since nobody plays and there's no clear rules, everyone just assumes it's a free-for-all. The only people who actually speak up are people who are pretty much at their limit. Everyone is basically free to throw around cheating allegations and spam "fag" or "bot" for hours with no consequence. I would say I'm too old for this crap but I've found most of the people who do this are in their 40s.

Since there's no one around to tell them they're being paranoid, other people pick up on that and start to believe that the only reason they're losing is because someone else must be cheating, so they pick up an aimbot or a wallhack to try and make things more even in their mind. Every single person here that actually does know how to play this game is severely underestimating how ignorant your average DM player is and how much of a problem that's become compared to 15 years ago.

Just throw it all away and start over, man. This is a GAME. We need more people like Elysium in the drivers seat who are actually passionate about preserving the authentic Quake 2 deathmatch experience and less people who treat this game as a substrate for releasing whatever political bile they have pent up in their psyche.

Then again, when it comes to you specifically, you've always had the suspicion that lots of people were cheating, and you've posted lots of demos of lots of different players, and very very rarely do any of the demos contain anything noteworthy.

You people just need to come to terms with the fact that this is just how it is now. The admin staff is small and busy with life. You want someone who's hands-on and plays everyday and knows the climate on the servers. Sure, that would be best. But the fact is no one else is trustworthy enough to handle the job without overstepping, including myself, including elysium, including some of the admins who aren't admining (so be thankful for that).

I don't play anymore, but I look at the messageboard almost daily, and I can't really say that I've seen excessive amounts of different posts where people have been posting demos of suspected cheating or condumps of objectionable behavior. That's probably the best path to follow. Post it to the boards, an admin will read it, they'll do what they do with the admin process, they may come back and post about what they did (maybe not), and then it's done. If what's happening is you're repeatedly trying to get ahold of someone on discord and getting no response, well then maybe they're busy or maybe you're pestering them so much that they're ignoring you for some reason.

Thing is, I'm in the Tastyspleen discord too. I haven't seen a whole lot of people coming forward on there in any of the various sections posting about any problems they're having on the servers.

You gotta speak up. Best thing to do is, like I said, Post it to the boards. Make sure you include a demo or a condump or at the very least an accurate time and date and description of the problem so someone can locate it in the logs if they have to. Then maybe to raise awareness about the board post, post something to discord about it, if not in the regular old "tastyspleen" section/channel, then perhaps in one of the other lesser used sections to help it stand out more, like "suggestions" or "general" or "ffa". And it may be 2 or 3 days before anyone has a chance to get to it. Above all, just realize it's 2026 now, folks. King Quadz is gone and we all miss him. But this is how it is in 2026. The fact that we're still here at all is a gift.

I agree first is sus, and second is "very interesting." I feel these chain cheaters when I am playing. You always know. It is like a laser. Also I have a feeling they are using nades/ nade launchers to get kills as you come around corners. Felt some really weird repetitive nade kills as well.

#1 - Possibly botting. Then again, possibly not. With these two shots alone, it's kinda inconclusive. They are very snappy shots immediately after strafing into the line of sight, but it's a little harder to tell with railgun.

#2 - Looks a LOT more like bot behavior. When spec'ing for a bot, anytime the crosshair stays smoothly locked dead center when they're using a sustained fire hitscan weapon like a CG or MG, it's the ultimate tell.

In that second clip, aside from the obvious lock-on tracking you mentioned, you can see the bot is confused by the corpse. He's trying to fire at the player outside but instead the bot focuses on the corpse. He then tries to correct this by jumping outside to face the player, but since he's now standing on the corpse, the bot starts spinning out LOL. It's blatantly obvious imo.

It is kinda interesting that the players are mentioning it more often nowadays, and we would like better help with this.

I just get the impression that the admins are very busy with life etc. They don't have the time. It's understandable, but bad news particularly for the DM server. I'm not even certain they read the forum. I mainly focused on making short clips here of the cheating because as I mentioned before I don't think they have the time (let alone time to view demos).

I get it, it's an ancient game and most have moved on but the players (what's left of them), on the DM server are WELL aware there's no active admin. So this is the result: you get this guy who was so tired of losing, he decided to cheat to compensate. There are no repercussions. This is the opposite of what's happening right now with Elysium over there, where everyone is accusing him because the skill gap between him and the average player is enormous.

HERE in these clips there is someone who actually IS cheating. And it's sad to watch. So in the meantime all I can do is just continue adding clips here every time I see this loser on the server.

Yeah he has a 30 ping, however i don't care what your name is if it looks like shit and smells like shit, guess what.... it is shit! the guy jas been cheating all this time and its so blatantly obvious too. Dear oh dear you poor fools. lets not forget he stormed off from the game after he was forced anticheat and didnt re surface until he didnt have to use it anymore. Laughable

Insanely obvious in the second clip. Hitscan weapons that need continuous firing are more obvious than rail. The color aimbots that came out a while back are a little less obvious when it comes to hitscan because they target all over the player model, but this isn't one of those; it's a really bad, obvious one.

I agree 100%. There's a ton of games with servers out that there are run by people with jobs and families, but they still find the time to play the game because they just like it that much. There's even communities on Discord and like for this very game that are way more active. I've always found it to be a poor excuse and it comes across like the players are the ones that have to pick up the slack of what a moderator or administrator should already be doing with none of the trust or authority that comes with actually being one.

So less people start playing, and that includes people who are more skilled. The more skilled people that stop playing, the less people that are around to quell the people who aren't and don't know the difference between a skilled player and a cheater. The paranoia and ignorance feeds on itself, not to make it sound more serious than it is in the grand scheme of things but still. For me personally, I stopped really playing because of the weirdly overly competitive and antisocial nature of FFA in current year. I've said what I needed to say about it and I don't feel any obligation to go out of my way to support a server or network that's never going to change.

And I really feel what you say about the skill gap. I've been on both sides and it's not fun.
