Quake 2 Vanilla: End Score Board

Was there really no score board shown at the end of every map complex in the original vanilla version, even tho the screen holds still until you click the mouse to continue (like in Quake1)? And did the developers really didn't patch this with one of the many OFFICIAL patches THEY released back then? Because it is really hard for me to believe that a well rounded company like id, would make such amateurish mistakes upon release and then not even fix it afterwards.

I seem to remember, maybe in the shareware version that I first played from an old PC Gamer magazine supplemental CD-rom, that Quake2 did have some kind of end of section scoreboard that counted up your time, kills, and secrets, kinda like they did in Doom. Or maybe I'm thinking of the .CIN cutscenes from the original CD that are supposed to be played between the map sections every so often. There was also music tracks on the CD's that would play during the game - you could play them in a regular CD player as well. Several games around that time were doing something similar. I remember the game Redneck Rampage had a soundtrack included with songs from Reverend Horton Heat, Mojo Nixon, and the Beat Farmers.

Quake II is not 27 years old. I refuse to accept THAT much time has gone by.
