Login controls not working at top right

As title says, the login controls are not working for me at the top right of this page. Error message I get:

An Error Has Occurred! Your session timed out while posting. Please go back and try again.
I've emptied browser cache and tried incognito mode. Nothing works.

But if I login from page http://forum.tastyspleen.net/quake/index.php?action=login then it works.

I suggest that you either fix the broken controls or at least hide them so users would not get confused.

And BTW, the session timeout is a huge pain in the butt. This is the third message on this forum, and the second time I had to re-login because session timed out just before I clicked on "Post" button.

I also noticed the login in top right doesn’t work. But one down closer to middle of page works fine.


I think we are all lucky this website is still active as the guy who had been maintaining it the past 20 or so years has left us and there’s a long list of things that probably need to be fixed and updated.

Bare with the new admins and be patient I believe they are working on a lot of things and they are just volunteering in their free time so they can only do a little bit at a time.

Let’s focus on building the community with respect and harmony in the meantime so we can grow and give all the admins something worth fixing

I faced this problem actually a long time ago. I gave up on registering here because I was not able to login.

If it happened to me (twice), it probably has happened to many others too. One can just wonder how many new users this forum lost because of that. And just accelerated the death of this community.

The whole forum software is very old version and has probably numerous vulnerabilities and is just begging to get hacked.

Top right controls works for you?
Or them are broken just for new users?
Or just for me?

If you say it's broken just for me, how can you know that if new users cannot even login to report the problem?

The log in button at the top right doesn't seem to work correctly, we are aware of the issue. If you click the login button just above the user/password it brings you to a secondary page that will allow you to log in.

Unfortunately the website could use some work in general, and as Beav mentioned, the todo list is quite long :/

Known issue:

Logins from the quick login at the top right will timeout in 60 minutes. It does not have a checkbox for "Always stay logged in" as seen in the login page http://forum.tastyspleen.net/quake/index.php?action=login

Confirmed. I logged in with the top right and after it expired I got the long form and opted for the stay logged in checkbox.
