To any members of the community who served in the military, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
Got to spend part of the weekend at the shooting range, watching movies and grilling burgers with my nephew who is home from the Air Force for the first time in about a year. Good times!
Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend, folks.

My Dad served in WWII, his unit fought in the "Battle of the Bulge". One of his medals was for repairing and running new comm lines in the middle of enemy artillery bombardment. My Dad and another guy went into the bombardment zone and repaired existing cables and then went back and got another spool of cable to run a back up comm line. I remember talking to him about this mission. He told me that they would run with cable spool until they could tell by the whistle that the bomb was about to hit. When the bomb was close, they would dive on the ground until it exploded. Once it exploded, they would get up and run until the next explosion, going side to side because the Germans were alternating their coordinates.
My family was lucky, my dad and his two brothers who fought in WWII all made it home.
Thousands of soldiers never made it home.
Today is about honoring them and their families. Without the service of these people, this world would be a different place today.

Thanks for sharing.
Both of my Grandfathers were WW2 Navy. One was a radio man that served under John Kennedy in the South Pacific.

Quake II is not 27 years old. I refuse to accept THAT much time has gone by.
