I recently got back into Quake 2 after about 15 years off. I played primarily on the Velocity.net server back in the day. I am very surprised at the lack of any type of policing on this server. You have people camping everywhere in DM and tonight I saw people working in teams and not killing each other while camping the rail. If no one cares then so be it but I know for a fact it improves the playing experience if there are people in there to regulate camping and other types of abuse of the server. At Velocity we had Mods in there every day to prohibit asshats from ruining the fun. This is just me expressing my 2 cents but I don't think I'm the only one who would appreciate someone policing the gameplay. Again, if the people that run the site don't care then I'll shut up and remain disappointed.

I'm one of the tastyspleen admins, I think I've seen you lately around the TDM servers.  I assure you admins are watching the servers daily, but we've never policed game play here. I hate campers too, so make it a mission to target them and take em out.  The people teaming are usually suited up as cows, throw on a cow skin, infiltrate, and bust up their party.  That's always been part of the game on the dm servers.

I first started playing on the TS servers way back in late 2007. (Doesn't seem that long ago, but the older you get, the faster time seems to fly by.) Back then, the Quake2 clan scene was still very much alive. From then until about 2012 or so when daily player counts started slowly and continuously waning (still is), there was a clan called {CRU} (campers r us). They were not a competitive clan at all, more like a casual Q2 fraternity/club. They had lots of members and there was usually at least 1 or 2 CRU members on the Vanilla server at any time, 24hrs a day it seemed like. They typically used the cow model and would often teamplay, camping certain spots in teams. They tended to be in the lower to average skill range though, so they weren't too problematic for you if you were at least an average to slightly above average player like myself.

It's annoying sometimes. But it used to be 50x worse. If you got 2 people teaming now, imagine having 6 all camping the top of a ladder like they used to do in the old days.

Like others have said, they pick skins they recognize to do the teaming crap. If you catch someone doing it, go spec and follow them to see what skin they're using. Then open console, type "set skin model name here/skin name here". Also if you don't wanna leave the game, just open console and type "skins" and it should spit back a list of all the skins people are using. Do the same, "set skin ****/****". They might get mad and change skins to keep the tactic going... simply change your skin again. Eventually they'll either go crybaby and leave, or start playing right.
