So... I'm sure there is some discussion going on somewhere in mystery admin/discord-land.  Here are my thoughts:

• Admins should bloody GET IN THE SERVER AS A PLAYER to talk.
• Multiple admins behind console and wallfly, and doing private messages under their usual player name that we *cannot respond back to* is frustrating. This never happened before.
• To Sh**o and anyone else claiming "this is how it always worked": No, for the last thirteen to fifteen years on various quadz-managed servers, I have never encountered an admin person other than quadz communicating to me while in the game. Ever. On dm, mutant, vanilla, tourney, rail servers, dm8, sheridan, the new xquake, or anything.  If you were there, you never spoke to me from wallfly as Quadz did occasionally.   It is very odd that suddenly I am seeing all these people claiming that that they have "been helping out" for years, when I have never seen evidence of this. 
• There was a bot (that recently returned) in 2020 that caused a lot of grief, and the actual euro player Panjoo and myself were given, by quadz personally, rcon_password access to the dm server to deal with. I myself kicked and added live ip addresses to a running ban list several  times. 
• When I have adminned servers, such as my redmond ffa server and now seattle-ffa server, I admin from being in the server as a player. Occasionally from my old redmond server I spoke from Console not in the game, but everyone knew it was absolutely me and nobody else (http://pepp5.net/game/images/5.html) 
• It's just kind of annoying that I have literally been in these USA servers, quite a bit for a long time, and all this administration is happening from a bunch of names I have literally never seen in these servers. (I know claire has been in recently, and jehar was a regular years ago)  I will say as well that I was also a bit annoyed that NeverQuadz never showed up even though he and I gabbed way back in xquake days.  However now I know that he did play in the server as Pantaloons. (I checked his ip from my logs, that was him)
• In summary: admins should be active player/participants in the servers, not remote-jockeys. Be a part of it, play the game, engage with players. =)

I understand your frustration. I know we chatted in-game (as a player) already, but just for the record:

It's not always possible to join as a player. I (and I know a bunch of other admins) will often "watch the matrix" from a command line screen because we have responsibilities that prevent us from joining in a q2 client. I can spend time with my wife watching TV at night from my chair while looking at the console from my phone. The WAF (wife-approval-factor) is very low for me sitting there with headphones on grenades flying. I'm mostly on the day-shift, as once I get home I'm dealing with my kids and dinner and school work.

Sorry we frustrated you, that was the opposite of my intent.  As Claire has already mentioned, we are often watching the servers for shenanigans from an outside program.  I personally view it as a positive that we're able to monitor and communicate with players without physically being able to be present in game.  This is not new.  The program I used to communicate with you has always existed and has been used by a core group of trusted admins, myself included, since the beginning of time.  The fact that no one has used it with you probably speaks to you being a model player.   

Regarding admins sending private messages using their usual player name.. I understand why not being able to respond may be frustrating, but I did that as a curtesy since you asked to know who you were speaking with.  I do believe I mentioned (more than once) that admins identities have always been super-secret, guess my secret is out.  All core admins can speak as wallfly or console, so it’s possible you’ve spoken to one of us before and assumed you were speaking with Quadz. 

I agree full-heartedly with your point 7.  Some of us have crawled back out of retirement in tribute to a very much missed and loved old friend.  Tastyspleen has been my home since before it was Tastyspleen, I never could stay away for long.  For full clarity there have been no new appointments, the only people you will see acting as admin have been chosen by Quadz.  We’re doing our best to keep things running as we believe he would have wanted, please let us know if you feel like we’re falling short.  He has big shoes to fill as you likely know.

If there were one person who could testify as to how difficult it is to be fully banned from posting on this forum, it would be you.

The current admins support quadz and the way he ran things wholeheartedly. Your ability to post is a trial period. I'll let you decide how you're doing so far.

I disagree. You were banned by quadz involving a feud with focalor. Attempting to rub it in focalor's face by stating explicitly he is powerless because "quadz isn't here to let your(his) ignorant agitations slide anymore" is wrong. This is using your renewed posting ability to instigate the exact person that was involved in your banning. No admin approves of this, and as stated previously it's a very poor presumption to think the community would be ran differently without quadz.

I am not opposed to knowing the identity of whoever this TacoRosado person is. Some ball bag wants to show up with a new acct and start picking shit with people. Quadz never supported that shit. If someone with an unknown alias was ever fucking with you on the servers, you could always PM Quadz and ask him tto find out who it was. He, like many of us would, apparently didn't believe that "assholes" have the natural "right" to be faceless asshole trolls.... which is part of the reason I wanted to know who Saxon was. He doesn't have the right to pretend to be someone else and buddy up to me when I want nothing to do with him.

I'm not your active enemy anymore unless YOU want me to be. To me, you simply don't exist. I hear things about people getting into discussions with the known village idiots and then not knowing what to make of their statements and having to scour logs to gain some sort of context. Just because you were here X years ago doesn't mean you've been here every day for the last 13 like some of us. You need to know who you are dealing with. Some people are trustworthy, some people are not.
