Amazing looking map!

As you might already know, there are a lot of dark areas when using Quake2 RTX. (And the underwater areas were pitch dark. Had to fire the blaster to see.)

I notice you referred to the above as a "light test", so I gather it's a work in progress.

I'm not sure how it works, but there's some way to provide extra data to Q2RTX so that it knows that certain textures should emit light. So it should be possible to have the flame texture on your candles emit light.

Lighting aside, it's one of the most visually detailed maps I've seen in Q2.

Not sure how it will play on a crowded deathmatch server, perhaps best for a small number of players.

And yes, you are right.
RTX textures are still work in progress, they are not included in this pak and will be shared later. I am experiencing techincal issues with RTX texures and testing a lot yet.

Wouldn't all that incredible detail slow the game down too much?

First of all, you're going to need an Nvidia RTX series (or AMD equivalent) video card. Unless I'm mistaken, the GT and GTX series cards won't do ray tracing (or at least not at any "playable" fps). With the GPU shortage that's been going on since covid, EVERY video card (except the tiny shitty virtually useless little GT 710 and 730's) is going to be greatly over-priced. The 10GB GeForce RTX 3080's, when/where you CAN find them, are typically priced at around $2000 right now.

From what little I've seen, ANY game that's using ray tracing, even on the best video cards is probably going to run at a max frame rate of about 40-30 fps... sometimes around 10-15 fps depending on the game and the general amount of shit going on in any scene.

RTX will slow down your framerate, obviously.
Since this is FFA map for online play, RTX textures are just for demo playing/streaming.

I've play test it with 6 friends around 24 hours. Gameplay feels  smooth and totally fine.
Vanilla Q2 engine is not recommended for this map. It will crash.
R_speed on this map is around 2-3k, because of details.
YamagiQ2 render has some very minor issues with rendering textures(not critical for gameplay, you can play it, but visually, couple of textures were rendered with mistakes). 
Q2pro/R1Q2/Q2RTX are ok
