LowLander Hacking MyMap que.......

So, yea. This has happend to me 3 times, (including the time he failed)
I wait unitl DM8 and then I do a "mymap" request. Well, if this dude, named LowLander don't like your map choice he some hows munipulates the que.
Not sure how, but I did see that he changed his name to mine, and then right before DM8 ends he disconnects (with my alias) and then my "mymap" is no longer in que.
Is this legit? why even have a "mymap" option is this dude can hack / manipulate the que to his liking?
I would not think that this is supported behavior, even for a moderator?

Strange. Sounds like a bug. It's supposed to use IP address when cleaning up the queue on disconnect, not the player name.

What playername were you using at the time, so I can troubleshoot?

I think LowLander is Panjoo. Doesn't really sound like something he'd do.

^Funny detail. See how he now pretends not to know who I was? I never told him anything ingame.
In fact, this guy has been trying to find ways to get me and other mods like Pepp in trouble. He just calls names and publicly claims things that aren't true and then when I finally say something, he gets all surprised and be like: Hey that's not how you should behave as a mod.

As far as I know there are two people, without a known handle (this guy is probably one of them), that have been deliberately using mymap to drive players away by always picking this map, hoping that a big and somewhat laggy map messes with high pingers.
Not only that, I've seen it many times where he mymap'd campgrounds and commented something like 'here's something for you shit pingers and campers, enjoy!' before leaving right after the map came up. Or if he doesn't disconnect, he'll just not respawn and wait it out. Of course he'll say that he loves the map but I've spec'd him so many times where he would just not move at all.

I'm pretty sure this aliaser is the same guy that likes to claim that 'shit pingers ruin the server and make things laggy' or something ignorant like that. And demanding they should leave. If anyone would search the logs for the expression "shit pingers" I'm sure you'll find that I'm not making things up. One day he's nice to me and the other day he'll try to bait me so he can come here and post about it. No idea why he does this.
Anyways, I think it's a bug in the mymap feature, as it clearly cancels the map on playername disconnect. I don't know where he got the "this has happend to me 3 times" though. But there are more people that mymap campgrounds and act just like this guy, so mr Funnyman, if I got you mixed up with the other one that likes to keep harassing high pingers, then this one is mea culpa.

Maybe this is a little irrelevant, but people mymapping maps and leaving or staying in spec is easily one of the worst parts of the DM server. It's been happening so much it's almost like no one actually cares enough to try and remedy it.

Of course, the other worst part is the general toxicity that is still being perpetuated after all these years. Is there any good reason why you couldn't just DM someone about all this?

LOL!! I only have one name,,,,, "Funny AF". I only play in AM. I had No Idea that this pan dude was LowLander (seriously thought Lowlander was a 12 year old kid. =)
Anyway, check my Ip, I'm not the dude you say I am, and you were / are a rude person. If I utilize the "mymap" feature, I always play it.. like literally twice a month I use it... for you to act as such was immature and unprofessional......I heard from others that panjoo is a troouble maker, not sure why hes allowed to harrass players like he does......

The playername database indicates you spoofed the "Funny AF" playername (38 hours ago, now.)

By what logic do you expect your own playername to be protected from spoofing, if you're going to do the same to others.

There are a small selection of custom maps on that server, and they can only be played in between an uninterrupted block of dm1-dm8.

So by definition it is not possible to schedule a custom map more frequently than any one of the dm1-dm8 maps.

Further, the custom maps available on the dm server are all reasonably compatible with the max player count on that server. (A couple are probably too small for a full server, but they go by fast. Like q2dm7.)

So it's not like the old days where someone would mymap sewer64 on vanilla and disconnect.

There are always going to be people that will go out of their way to ruin the game for people as much as they can no matter what technical roadblocks you may put up. At the end of the day though, it's up to you whether or not you want to do anything about it, not me.

It is, however, up to me to decide to play another game because of it.

I've been playing in dm every day for years (since vanilla died.) And I constantly have the server status on my fourth monitor.

I see when the custom maps are played.

And if it's an awesome map like campcity, and I'm not busy with work, I'll pop into the server just to play that map because it's a blast.

And what's this about griefers and trolls?

It's an FFA server. Other than the chatter from a few nincompoops who think anyone who can aim a railgun is cheating, what kind of griefing is even possible. You spawn. You get frags. You do fun jumps around the maps. It's Quake2.

I assume we have different taste in maps, but you can't please everyone. The dm server is a compromise between the dm1-dm8 folks and players who want SOME variety (i.e. me.)

I've mentioned this before (I made a thread about it I think), but a handful of players now seemingly have constant dropped frames or micro-stutter lag as they are playing. It doesn't appear to affect them to a great degree as they can still play well and win somewhat consistently (.B100D is one example, but certainly not the only one). They constantly warp around, where tracking them is erratic as they aren't trackable like other players with smooth connections (if it's actually a connection issue), but their aim doesn't seem to be noticeably affected.

Is it possible to set your client-side fps to a high number, like 90+ or something, but have the server fps be at like 10 or something that would cause other players to not get consistent updates of your location via the server? Maybe some trickery with rate settings? I'm assuming R1Q2 or Q2Pro have quite a few settings to mess with. Just not sure if there is anything that one could tweak to do this intentionally.

It feels like an unfair defensive/avoidance advantage, but I'm going to give them all the benefit of the doubt and assume it's not something they can control. Jimmy/Nitr0 wanted me to post something on the forums the other day as he was getting frustrated by it a lot at that time too (was playing B100D at that time).

Not sure TwisTbanG's situation. But my understanding is .B100D is tethering his laptop through his cell phone wireless network. Such connections can have lots of jitter and packet loss.

If you harass and insult players only because they ping high and aren't from the US and claim that they ruin the server, and you do this every time you see them I call this griefing.

The entire goal of this guy is to try to discredit me, look at his choice of words. And he does the same while being in the server, it's slander and it's not harmless.
It sure feels like this isn't just about this particular mymap instance. What trouble am I making, besides talking back to obvious trolls sometimes? This might be one of his former(?) IP's: 107.145.132.***  Plz search some logs to see what this guy has been saying to people from outside the US.

The only reason I used the name Funny AF for like 1 second and immediately disconnected was to cancel out his egotistic mymap routine. I'm sure you will remember that guy dvnation.com on vanilla, with his endless mymap cycles of koth6, fact3, biggun, etc. That was pure mymap abuse and it pissed many people off. If you actually checked the log of this particular instance you would have seen that before the map changed I typed a 'nextmap' showing campgrounds next in line, and he answered with something like: 'your favorite.'
The fact that this guy again tries to make me look like someone who's always abusive only confirms that this is the guy I was talking about. You are comparing a persistant scriptkid spoofing my name for months and talking smack to others with my name and jumping in lava 1,000 times/day, with what I did to skip his mymap due to a bug, one time.
