Tonight's the first time I've watched any of this years bowl games. Don't even remember who was in the 5oclock game, I dozed off, it was pretty boring. So far the Vanderbilt vs Baylor game is pretty good. I used to be BIG on bowl season. I'd print out schedules of all the games and tape it up on the door and write in the scores and study up on teams to make more educated bets. Betting kinda made the boring games watchable and exciting. Without it, its just boring and I don't make time to watch anymore.

Me too. I ended up not watching yesterday, and I'm glad when I saw the score to Miami Wisconsin. Baylor Vanderbilt looked more competitive.
Maybe today will be better. Purdue vs Auburn, Syracuse vs West Virginia, and wash state vs Iowa State. The 2nd game interests me a little.

Purdue, the only team to beat Ohio State, is making the big 10 look like a joke. Then again we kinda already knew. Even though the ACC has been in a big slump for a year or two these ZERO defense conferences make them look not so bad.
Very obvious why they matched up their Golden boy Ohio State with Washington.

Was up late last night and I thought I'd sleep most of the day, so I set my DVR to record the 3 games today. I ended up waking up at 3pm to see Auburn kicking the shit out of Purdue 56 to 7... and it was only HALFTIME.
Deleted it from my Dish Hopper. No point in watching that.
Felt bad for Vanderbilt last night though. As you see, they're much improved. But Baylor wasn't too bad this year either. Would've been nice to see Vandy actually win a bowl in a year when they had a competitive team and a half-decent season.

I was watching it on and off, auburn had mercy eased up on them in the 2nd half. They decided not to break the bowl record for most points by a team, haha. (They were one possession away from doing so)
Syracuse beat WVU. I was thinking and hoping they would which is why I was mildly interested in that game. I'm not staying up for the late game.
NC State vs Texas a&m could be a good match up in a few days.

Auburn's receivers could get behind the defense everytime Purdue played man. If Purdue dropped back deep in a zone defense, Auburn would get big yards running the ball. I think Auburn could have easily put up 80 on Purdue.
The WVU / Syracuse game was a big disappointment since Will Grier did not play and the guy who did start had very little experience (had thrown 10 passes in his college career). If Grier had played, it would have been a much better game and WVU may have won.
FLA has played Mich 4 times and never beat them. I am predicting that the number will grow to 5. Mich has a good defense, they will stack the box and make Franks beat them by passing. Franks is not good enough to win a game like this when he has to be the main offense.

You just like WVU's coach
Yeah it would've been better with Grier.
As for Florida vs Michigan, it should be a low scoring game in the first half. I think Michigan's defense is a tad overrated. I could see Florida being up most of the game then Michigan starting to make big plays at the end when Florida's D is tired from being on the field 3x more than there offense.
Who knows though, I'll be working during that one. What do y'all think about the other two games?

Some of the targeting penalties I saw yesterday, or at least two of them that I remember... god damn.
One in particular. I forget which game it was, but the guy was sliding down near the sideline, and the defender bent ALL THE WAY OVER almost putting the top of his helmet on the ground, in order to deliver a late and altogether unnecessary hit on someone. And the way the runners neck bent over sideways, he could've broken his neck and killed the kid. Seeing that shit pisses me off. I know football is about knocking people around and sometimes people get hurt, but what that guy did was NOT a "just part of the game" kinda thing. That's the "hurt people to win" method of football. Last thing I wanna see is an
UNPAID
20 year old kid getting paralyzed over this shit. The school makes money, ESPN makes money, and neither one of them have an obligation to pay the kids medical and physical therapy bills when they become quadriplegics.

Yup. Some calls by the refs were bogus but AGREED on that one. Just a weird game. Weird play calling, bad coverage, etc..
As for Michigan vs Florida, I was too nice although I thought Florida was taking it. The big 10 exposed once again

"Notre Dame has a chip on the shoulder concerning being considered the underdog, etc"
FUCK EM. They didn't play a conference championship. That's 1 less game of wear and tear on them, which gives them an advantage if you ask me. And they STILL ain't got shit for Clemson. NOW we ALLLLLLLLLLLLL see what a stupid fucking choice it was to seed them in the playoffs. Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, or even Georgia even after losing the SEC championship, ANYone else would've been a better pick for a #3 seed.

Yup, a nice long break to rest up and practice.
Georgia would've been a great 3 seed because in my opinion they're the 3rd best team in the nation. They blew the Notre Dame Michigan game out of proportion and overrated both teams. 4th seed I don't know. Oklahoma allows SO MANY points... Kansas scored 40 on them. If they play the offensive game of a lifetime it'll be a game, and I hope they do.

2nd TD by bama: Call on the field was TD, it was close but I don't think he had possession....but, I still agree with the call. Did y'all see the dude from Oklahoma yanking the living shit of his collar from behind BEFORE he caught it? They didn't say anything about it.
Another blowout. I'm going to sleep at halftime at this rate
Another uncalled pass interference when Oklahoma "forced" bama to punt for the first time.

FLA continues to surprise me. Under coach Mullen, FLA QB Franks has improved dramatically. I only had 1 or 2
moments from Franks yesterday. Franks used to have me screaming
repeatedly every game. Franks still has a long way to go, but if he continues to improve, FLA will be a force once again. UGA will still rule the SEC East, but FLA will at least make it competitive.
happened to South Carolina yesterday, being shutout 28-0 by Virginia.
ND was exactly who we thought they were
Oklahoma hung in there after ALA came out and laid a beatdown on them, going up 28-0 early. This game was closer than it should have been, ALA played a very sloppy game and the refs missed some important calls. I really wanted to see the Oklahoma receiver Lamb #2 get lit up by someone. Lamb could have been called for offensive pass interference multiple times. Every time he made a catch he had to do a pose.

Yeah, the post-play posing shit is getting out of hand. They've seen the pro players do this shit, and then the TV crews do slow-mo replays of the little post-QB-sack pantomimes that defensive linemen do, which in turn makes the Madden games have reproduce that shit to make the game look and feel more "authentic", and now these college kids are duplicating it. Getting excited about a play and high fiving your team mates is one thing, but the Sean Witherspoon "spoon it up/feed me more" dance after a sack that EVERY SINGLE d-lineman in pro and college football has to do now could easily be the equivalent of what they call "taunting".
Take a lesson from the NFL. They shot themselves in the foot by allowing the players to do what they want and take knees of protest during the national anthem. Maybe they do and maybe they DON'T have the right to protest something. But the NFL should've already made it a policy that all players STAND and RECOGNIZE the national anthem. I dunno who thought that WOULDN'T backfire when you consider how many meathead jock jackass "support the troops" rednecks there were in the NFL fanbase. And if these college kids start getting too much freedom, they're gonna do some stupid shit like that too and end up tanking the incredible growth that college football has seen in the last 15 years.
Go online sometime and try to find pics of the different major schools football locker rooms. You'll be abso-fucking-lutely FLOORED to see what they look like now. Georgia Tech remodeled theirs this last off-season and now it looks like a fucking futuristic 100million dollar spaceship, no shit.
