not sure how many of you know this but there is a channel on the enterthegame network called #pride, dedicated to a bunch of e-homosexuals, so tonight haunted made a channel called #straight to support heterosexualism on etg, anyways about an hour after the channel opened it's doors it was closed down by kismet (an etg admin) for no apparent real reason, and everyone inside has been banned from ETG for one day

although I do wonder myself if they think theres something wrong with being straight..... /yikes

a few of us went into #channel one time, and got kicked and banned after saying "channel" a few times there
then one of the admins of ETG that ops that channel, unbanned me

i went back in and said channel again, and he PMed me and said he would ban me from the whole ETG server if i did anything "like that" again lol

Heterosexualism is a SERIOUSLY threatened lifestyle, in need of all the support it can get, whether on etg, tastyspleen, or wherever. We heterosexuals have put up with snide, belittling remarks in the maintstream media and in society at large, and outright discrimination--dismissals from jobs, laws passed against our "perverse" proclivities, raids of our homes and bars by law enforcement and marauding teenage homosexuals intent on "rolling" straight guys-- for too damned long. I for one am intensely proud of the hard-wiring in my hypothalamus, which I carefully nurtured throughout the nanoseconds it took when I was conceived. My hat is off to you guys in the trenches fighting the good fight!

 

What I'm trying to figure out is who is more pathetic in this whole non-issue--those threatened souls who felt compelled to express their "straight pride" or those hypersensitive etg folks who shut you down. I guess I'll default to my natural inclination in favor of free speech, since I suspect that the original deed was done (well, partly anyway?) out of a sense of fun, and since the admin shut it down I have no way of checking to see if the content there was beyond the pale.

But in their/her defense: (1) When does "straight pride" actually become anti-homosexual? I'm pretty sure that the gay pride IRC is not advocating for beating up straight people, for example. (Again, I have no way of seeing what the nature of the "humorous" chat was, but I wonder if it might have been just a tad offensive, even if it was just in jest?) Kind of reminds me of when I was in Munich many years ago and saw some skinheads hauled off, who of course immediately began squawking about "fascists" shutting down their right to free speech, their right to merely say, after all, that they were proud of their "Aryan" heritage..."why, no, we're not anti-anything!" (2) You have the right to say whatever you want, and the people who run the website have an equal right to tell you to shut up, because THEY RUN THE WEBSITE, not the government. If I had a website/chat site, I would exercise my right to put on it or toss off it anyone I pleased, because it's MINE. Is that censorship or fascism? No. You're free to set up your own place to discuss straight pride if you're so committed to that ridiculous concept. And if it's your site, no one can shut you up. Beautiful, eh?

as for the content and our intentions behind it who cares, any faggot (bundle of sticks) on ETG seems to be able to say whatever the fuck he feels free to about taking it up the ass and that's ok but we establish some kind of group ourselves and suddenly we're a hate organization. the conversation taking place in #straight wasn't any worse than any other channel I'm in on a daily basis.

scream was glined for a week, I didn't check mine but it's most likely the same or worse. We probably shouldn't have changed our names to kismet| and kismet|| and join #straight(there are no such things as jokes on irc), it was a pretty half-baked idea on my part and scream was drunk hahah.. anyways..

My channel for my clan is now locked (#clanego) for seriously no apparent reason. My clan, and especially my clan's channel had NOTHING to do with me making #straight, and even if it did I don't see why the concept is wrong or why it would deserve consequences.

Kismet's reasons for locking my channel were that the 'majority of people idling in #straight came from #clanego' like it was an actual reason for doing it. She is the most narrow-minded bitch i have ever had the pleasure of knowing on IRC. She can't control her e-boyfriend through her keyboard so she has to take it out on IRC through her admin powers.

I can't really show up in ETG because im supposed to be g-lined.. and if i get caught 'evading a ban' then i will probably be banned for even longer. Anyone who can do me a favor and talk to an admin about how bogus it is that they locked my chan in #etg. Thanks.

spoofing kismet didnt get you any bonus points that's for sure, the topic that was in #straight didnt help any either, unwanted spamming in the #pride channel etc is all spelled out in the rules above.

You will run into rules like this in most irc servers.
