I pray for the people who are and will be affected by this storm. The Hurricane has made landfall now and it was a Cat 4, packing winds of 135 with gust to 160. The winds will be very destructive but the possible 30 inches of rain could be even worse.

The EURO model has this thing sitting on the Texas coast for DAYS, going back out in the water re-strengthening then hitting them again. Harvey is brutal.

I'm watching on the news how the Atlanta Red Cross is loading up tractor trailers with pallets of bottled water for the people in the floods. And all I can think is... "YOU ASSHOLES! THE LAST THING THOSE PEOPLE NEED IS MORE WATER!"

If you want some easy proof that the Red Cross is a scam, consider how much a 24 pack of brand name bottled water costs at a Walmart, where they truck it in from a distribution center just like the Red Cross... and then consider how much money the Red Cross claims it takes to do pretty much ANYTHING that they do.

As bad as that looks, you gotta realize it's even WORSE than it looks. Sewage services are designed to operate with drain inlets that are always open. Not every part of it can be isolated with some kind of backflow prevention. If water isn't going IN, shit is assuredly coming OUT. Nasty fuckin' turd water is what flows down the Chattahoochee river in Atlanta, and it's the reason why some people get that horrible flesh-eating bacteria in any small cuts or sores that ends up rotting their arms and legs off. Imagine how many people live in Houston and how many dumps per day those people take. That's A WHOLE LOTTA POOPY. Cryptosporidium, necrotizing fasciitis, a Wonka-world of things in there to make you puke and shit yourself to death.

Yea it was really bad. My niece and some good friends live in Victoria. They all made it through ok with only minor damage. Hell just last year me and my wife we're living in Victoria. Was proud to have been back in central texas during this for sure.

Haha! Sometimes bitches be trippin'. But sometimes bitches be trippin' for a good reason.

The 24 hour news networks have become less about news and more about entertainment. Certain kinds of people can sit and watch "news coverage" of the flooding for hours and hours. I try to pretend like it's real news, but I get annoyed and enraged by it after 15 minutes when they have nothing new to report and begin the endless cycle of repeating themselves. The same people who camp out on CNN or Fox News watching this shit ALL DAY LONG are the same people who slow down to look at car accidents from the opposite side of the divided freeway. They want the reporters to interview these people and they want the victims to say something inspirational so they can feel good about... whatever the fuck it is they need to feel good about. Nevermind the fact that these people just lost EVERYTHING, let's put it on them to have the responsibility of showing grace and being inspirational to the rest of us so we can tweet about how we're PRAYING for people and feel better about OURSELVES.

What giant pieces of shit we are.

I hope they are wrong, but sadly they are getting better at predicting these storms.

It is still a few days out, but each update looks worse for my area.
If it rides up the east coast of FL, it could be bad.
If it comes in the bottom of FL and rides up the middle, it will probably take some steam out of it. If it is a CAT 4 when it comes in, we still might see CAT 3.

I had Matthew last year and everything came out good, no significant damage but lost power for almost a week.

I went and got 25 gallons of ethanol-free gas for my generator today - 85.00

3.39 gallon really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

hmmm, we will have to wait and see with Irma.

It is looking better for my area, probably Cat 2 winds. South Florida & Keys, as it stands now, is going to get hit hard.
They are still trying to figure Irma out, so it will probably be different from what they are saying now.

Water receding like that is normal. I don't know why it's making crazy headlines. 20 years ago me and my buddies would wait for the hurricane to approach pushing the entire sound to inland NC, then we'd go out a mile into what was normally water and chase down red drum, speckaled trout, flounder, Spanish mackerel, or whatever we could find. They'd be in 8 inch deep puddles and took out some with base ball bats.

Hurricane Irene in 2011 I walked out a mile or so in 90-110 winds and stumbled upon a scallop bed. Filled up a whole 5 gallon bucket but I had to walk backwards most of the time because my face couldn't take the wind/water on the way back. Had oil skins on. It was an easy walk out obviously(the strong winds pushed the whole body of water out in the same direction) but not back in.
