Hello everyone! Some of you may remember Citadel, a Quake II unit that I released in 2007 (version 2.0 came out in 2009). Two years ago, having noticed that my levelpack had disappeared from the web, I decided to bring it back to life, but this is more than a re-release. Citadel 3.0 contains two more maps than the previous version, bringing the total to nine (eight regular levels and a secret level). All the old maps have been revised and re-compiled, with more or less evident changes in visuals, layout and gameplay.
For those of you who have never played it, Citadel is an old-style unit featuring a wide range of entities from Ground Zero, The Reckoning, Zaero and Lazarus, along with completely new entities. I hope you will enjoy this levelpack, comments will be most welcome.

Nice, I'll check this out later but I'm currently running into errors upon loading the first map
Tried to start it up with the base Q2 client, but ran into an error:
model models/monsters/soldier/tris.md2 has bad size header (467760 != 467376)
Decided to delete it from the pak, got another error with:
models/monsters/gunner/tris.md2
I deleted that as well and then the first map finally loaded. Didn't really play after getting the map to load, I'm just missing out on custom models if I delete those files, right?

Hello Kyper. I have never exprienced these errors, and no one has ever reported them. Do they prevent you from running the map, or does the map load anyway? Also, are you using some custom OpenGL renderer by any chance?

@Kyper: I've done some experiments, you CAN delete soldier/tris.md2 and gunner/tris.md2 without compromising the functionality of the game. In other words, those files are not essential. However, before you start playing Citadel, please try also 'map robotics' and 'map switch' and let me know if you get similar errors for boss5 and boss2 respectively. Because boss5 is a critical entity and the tris file must not be deleted. Thanks in advance.

It looks like it was indeed the OpenGL renderer causing this problem, I was still using r1gl from the R1Q2 client. After restoring the pak and switching off of r1gl the map loads fine, thanks for the tip!

This didn't work for me with Q2Pro (version r1504~924ff39). When I boot up any map in Citadel, my game crashes.
On a side note, I don't think you can change the video reference for Q2Pro, if that could also help in my situation.

Hey Andrea, Im really looking forward to these maps, what engine do you recommend? Quake 2 pro is great but I can never seem to save games? Any advice?

@apm: You can play Citadel either in normal Q2 mode or with Knightmare. I have not tested it with Q2Pro, but one of the users has reported that it doesn't work with it, so I don't recommend it. Many thanks in advance for playing my levels!
