hey guys!

i'm debating on whether or not to participate in my school's upcoming talent show/variety night. i might sing a song or two... i thought i might try a chinese song because then if i mess up the lyrics, no one would know i messed up.

or i could sing something everyone would understand (in english). anyway, i need help picking some songs that 1.) suit my voice and 2.) i can memorize and know by heart. within the next few days (if i have time that is) i might post some samples of my singing (if i ever decide on what songs to sing...) and you guys can tell me if i should sing this or that, or if i totally suck and i shouldn't be doing this at all.

i have stage fright, but i'm willing to give this a shot and see if i can overcome it. i'm typically really shy in real life, i don't really talk much at all and so everyone assumes that i am a quiet kid.

Unless the kids in your school are unusually interested in culture, I'd recommend singing something they're reasonably familiar with and something that's "cool" for them to acknowledge as something they "like".

My encouragement is none at all. Better to risk not being humiliated. If you wish to participate.. It'd be a good idea to 'rap' some songs, because you can say things and get away with it since the teachers don't know what you're talking about.

Mya, I think that's great. You already sang for us at christmas, which was not only generous but courageous - and you have a nice voice.

Sing something you're comfortable with, and enjoy it. If you're enjoying it and having fun, chances are high the audicence will too.

Personally I would've done something except the last talent show type even they had at my school was like in fourth grade, and I wasn't playing guitar yet, so that was pretty much that for me.

But yeah I think you should compete alice :P

We have a talent show at my school as well :] And i think that people who participate in those have a great amount of courage to preform in front of an assembly. I would like to point out one thing, last year at my school this girl was singing a song and well her voice crack and well her voice came out really weird. Yes people laughed and she probably felt embarassed but the next day people forgot about it. All i got to say is that if you want to show off your talent then you should. I participated in a sing/ dance thing on variety night at my school and im also in a fashion show that will be taking place soon enough and what i have to say is that this experience you will remember for the years to come. If you do not preform then you will regret it. I wish you best of luck, everything i participated in i can look back and im happy i did it. I hope this will be the same for you, and if you need help finding a song or an honest opinion you know where to find me. :]
