NADML 2006 Predictions!

I'm gonna make a predictions post for each week, so here's round robin week #1....

Maps: q2dm2, q2dm7, q2dm1

Actus Reus vs. Devine

I don't really care much for making predictions about my own clan anymore, I feel like it somewhat jinxed everytime I make a prediction on the outcome of my own games, but since there's only four matches a week I feel as if I have no choice, so here goes. First off, all of you should know that these two clans have never faced off, well at least not this generation of each clan, I'm sure the original aR and |D| faced off before at some point, but neither team knows much what to expect from the other, and a lot of this game is going to depend on what members from each clan show up, but I'm going to say a seesaw battle on dm2 with aR walking away the winner, Devine maintaining steady control over dm7 and aR taking a narrow victory on edge.

Clan Ego vs. Valiant

This is surely going to be an interesting match, I plan to be there to watch or even ref this one if rob will let me when this goes down, Valiant has been one of the all time powerhouses in quake 2 history, up there with the likes of demise, black dragons, version, etc and Ego has turned out to be somewhat of a mean underdog in the last few weeks, taking maps from Devine and FoJ during this weeks scrims. I'm going to say tokays towers will be a good battle, but since Ego's quad control on this map isn't at it's peak, I'm going to say this goes to Valiant, but it will be close. q2dm7 will be a frustrating 15 mins for Valiant since most of their members favor the railgun and slimy place is deprived of it, while Ego seems to be quite skilled on the smaller maps, so I'm going to say this one will go to Ego, by 20 or 30 points. q2dm1 is going to be the deciding factor once again, and while both teams are very familiar with this map, I'm going to say it goes to Valiant, when Flarez gets on a roll there's not much stopping him.

Shining Force vs. Brother's of True Fragging

Shining Force is pretty much the most stacked team I have ever seen, well in north america anyways, and BTF while the nicest group of players in q2, really aren't going to be anywhere near prepared enough to handle the likes of doze and scooby, so I'm going to say tokays and slimy place are going to be an easy 2-0 win for sf.

Entourage of Murder vs. Fires of Judaism

When I started playing q2 again 10 or 12 days ago haunted was telling me about a clan called "EOM" and I was like "huh?" - since then several people have told me they've seen these guys play, however I still question their very existence lol, I think they need to get an irc channel. Anyways, since they still have not posted their roster I went to their nadml website link that took me to a message board, where I seen several names: vibes, zbotv20, processor and blade - I've never heard of any of these guys, so I have no idea how to predict their match vs FoJ, but it does not bode well for their prospects of victory. I'm going to say dahang, paradiselost and naym pull out either easy or moderatly easy wins on dm2 and dm7.

oh yeah for some reason the schedule says BTF is playing shining force, but theyre also scheduled to play FoJ this week, someone needs to look into that.

I really enjoy these leagues.  I learned a lot about teamplay in UDML and I'm hoping to learn a lot more this season.

I still can't get over how big the european scene is.  EQ2L has 42 clans.  Plus they have the NDML still going on and the EDL.  Go figure.

i'm hoping ego will benefit with their recent additions for the league, picking up me for starters, probably was a little shocking to some players.. lol

We also picked up 2 euro players for this league whom expressed intrest in playing.  I expect their teamplay experience to hopefully mold us together some.

other than that, I agree with your predictions for the most part.

   You guys have some good players.  Why not give it a go?  If every time a team was outmatched they decided not to play, then where would be?  Watching TV, thats where.

BTF - Shining Force - scheduled for sunday, 4 est
FOJ - EOM - EoM said they would try to play sunday, but being 1 week late and still haven't filled out there roster yet, I'm no holding much hope

Fires of Judaism vs Actus Reus

Here's going to be an interesting match, in fact, we should call this one "match of the week" - both of these clans have really good rosters, and last week after I witnessed aR play non-edge almost as well as they played edge, this match could easily go either way, and if it goes to dm6 who the hell knows what's going to happen. I'm going to say a pretty back and forth battle on dm5, the team who has two or three successful 5+ point quad runs on this one is going to walk away the winner here, because while securing the RA room is an important part of battle on the pits, the fate of the game nearly always relys in the quad runs. I'm going to say aR pulls a narrow win on dm5, FOJ coming back on them on edge and then FOJ winning dm6 by 10 or 20 points. Tough to call this one one way or another.

Clan Ego vs Devine

Ego had somewhat of a rough game vs Valiant last week, not capturing enough quads on dm2 and then having some trouble keeping up on dm7, and I heard adren quit their squad this week, crippling their ability to control maps even a little bit further. A lot of this is going to depend on who shows, since Devines had trouble getting a good lineup online because of q4 and school, but I'm going to say Devine holds dm5 fairly well, Ego taking a win on edge and then Devine slipping by with a narrow victory on lava tomb.

Valiant vs The Shining Force

When I checked the shining force's roster 2 days ago I didn't see scoobys name there anymore, and without him Valiant has a chance to take a win or two away here, but regardless of who shows this is going to be another good fight. Valiant showed something this week, taking wins from EGO on 2 rather unplayed maps in the q2 circuit, and FlareZ was in rare form, if it continues this way they have a chance here. I'm going to say Valiant takes a win on dm5, shining force rapes them on edge and lava tomb.
