Everyone loves parroting the "greatest" title, but many folks doing it don't really know shit about the man's career. He once called himself "greatest", but was he? It's debatable. He did beat Foreman, but Foreman also ended up KO'ing a Michael Moorer who had recently KO'd Evander Holyfield for the heavyweight belt. And Foreman was a portly 45 year old underdog who NOBODY thought would last even 2 rounds with Moorer, but ended up knocking him out cold in the 10th. Foreman was an Olympic gold medalist just like Ali.

Ali was pretty good, no doubt. Greatest ever? I don't think so personally. When you consider what lighter boxers like Floyd Mayweather have done... hard to call anyone "greatest" before him when they didn't go undefeated their entire career. Heavyweights hit a lot harder, and 30 or more fights without getting KO'd by a lucky swing is virtually impossible in that weight class especially. But it ain't much easier to accomplish in the lighter classes either. What they lack in one punch KO power they MORE than make up for with speed and overwhelming volume. Would you rather be hit in the head with a sledgehammer only once... or hit in the head with a regular old claw hammer 10 times?
