I'd have to disagree and say this game is def not better than quakelive.  The game is basically a modified version OF quakelive.  I don't get what the fascination is with all these new quake games in that weapon switch needs to be so fucking high, and that both quakelive and xonotic cater to newbies so hard(in such, that it's so fucking easy to hit shots, UNLIKE quake 2 where you have to aim).  You 'sorta' have to aim in these games but the insta-fire and the games not being as affected by netcode like quake2 is(a 10 ping either less or more seriously makes a difference in q2, but these games it takes like a 40 ping difference to notice it imo). 

Wish they'd just re-release q2 or make a game in which you can't switch to EVERY weapon you have in less than 2 seconds, nor that you can reload railgun so fucking quick(that just pushes people to spam so much more and not aim).  Put the railgun damage back to 100, slow the guns down, and you got yourself a fucking game.  Fuck niggerlive/xonotic

Xonotic plays like a generic arena shooter. The weapons are similar to what you have probably seen in UT2k4 and Quake 3, although the game itself has some unique weapons like the Hagar, Electro and Crylink. You'll probably end up heavily using the rocket launcher (which shoots at a speed similar to UT but with right click you can guide a single missile), mortar (which works more like Quake's RL), and the Vortex (aka Nex which is the game's railgun). That is what I did at least in the few games that I have played in duel in Xonotic.

Personally, I don't think that Xonotic really plays like Quakelive because Xonotic has bunnyhopping and faster weapon switching, which makes Xonotic a much more fast paced game. A better game to compare Xonotic to would be Challenge Pro Mode (Quake 3 mod which has bunnyhopping and the projectiles shoot faster), IMO. Another thing about Xonotic which I never really liked was how mega health worked in that game. It degrades too fast so the advantage of having mega health is far less when compared to any of the Quake games. Red armor is more important in that game, I have noticed.

Looks like Quake 3 / UT.  I made the mistake of leaving QII for these games, in about 2002.  Then came back to QII in 2015.  Nothing still compares to QII (IMO)   

I play TF2 quite a bit, as I can really rule the servers - get called a hacker almost every time I connect - get recorded and told that I'm far to fast at sniping, and I've GOT to be using a hax prog     .  On QII here, I'm lucky to get ranked in the middle of dm match - better at Rail tho. (not as good as Boby tho.)
