Hello fellow quakers

Once upon a time we had a lively and active ra2 scene in europe. Sadly, it seems to have died out completely, there are just 2 public servers up according to q2servers.com which is understandable considering it's been over 10 years since the "glory days". Unfortunately they are always empty. So I ask, since this seems to be the place to be for q2 nowadays..

Are there ANY european players still out there?

Me and Jarod tried playing some q2 couple of days ago for the first time in ~8 years, and it was still absolutely amazing to play. Here's hoping to find likeminded folks to frag and get fragged by! Maybe organize some 2on2 in the evenings or something like that. Maybe stumble upon an old friend or foe? Leave me a message here or PM and I'll make sure to reply!

Play dm, railwarzCTF and rails. Not yet played any ra2 but I'm sure I could give it a go.

well if you want to play ra2, you'll have to play on the servers here. (which will mean a higher ping for you) it used to be jumping at around 1 am- 4 am EST. don't know what that would equate in the time zone across the pond. Cheers

Herro! We got a server up and running on 85.228.90.245:27920, will be up as much as I can keep it up, atm it's on my personal computer, looking into other options. Also trying to set up a jumpmod server on port 27930, it's up right now, just need to figure out how to get my hands on a maplist.ini file.. =)

I've kept an eye out on the previous IP, but nothing!

This is with me playing at odd times, like during the day and at 3am - I'm a it odd that way

I'll keep an eye on your IP now.

Anyway, there are some really good jump servers here already. Not yet seen anyone on the ra2 servers, or the Jailbreak mod, but ony been playing on-line here for the past month or so.

Hey all. I'm in the UK, and used to play a lot of RA2. (Not that I was ever very good!) But for some reason I decided to reinstall it earlier today and have a look to see if anyone was still playing, and I found this thread. So I'll keep an eye on these servers too---would love to have a game or two at some point!

Do you mean you reinstalled Q2? Or, just reinstalled ra2?

This site provides some great servers, including ACMECTF, but you'll need to play about 2 to 4am for a decent player match. There's the two dm servers, which seem to be fairly busy during (UK) the day, and really pick up after 10pm. Anyway, nice to see a fellow Brit. on here

I mean I reinstalled Q2! And believe me, it has been a *very* long time.

Anyway, I'm actually up late pretty often, so hopefully I'll manage to be around when the servers are busy, even if they tend to pick up pretty late on. But yeh, I'm kind of amazed (and happy!) at least a few people are still playing.

That said, I never really loved dm, so that doesn't hold much appeal for me. RA2 was my one and only passion. But maybe I'll be able to branch out a bit after all these years...

P.S., tunafish: I too remember MENTALIST. I used to chat to him on MSN Messenger. But he could be rather abrasive...

Hi,

There are some really good players on these days - fast. Railz is good, as is the ACMECTF with +hook - which is madly fast, but fun. Players are on the servers a lot, so expect to get heavily fragged!

However, you'll soon be fragging them - especially the campers (Boooo!!!)

If you want to get some practice in - changing weapons and getting used to just (say) a blaster, MG or grenades - there's Easier Bot and Gladiator - Q2Pro can do those for Win. 7.

Then, there's always single player, but perhaps go to coop or die? I've just completed the whole single player game WITHOUT A DEATH on hard with extra Monsters and they spawn very differently than the original - you can get an Iron Maiden and a Gladiator in the Outer Base (1st map) and all you've got is the blaster, for example. Soon get the SG and then SSG, but get killed once and all your inventory is reset and you'll be sent back to the beginning -
