There's a new Doom game coming?
Yeah, people are gonna be super excited for it, and no matter how graphically amazing it is, they'll piss and moan about how bad it sucks a week after they start playing.
You just can't remake old games anymore and make all the fans happy. Personally, I thought that last long-awaited Duke Nukem game was actually pretty cool and pretty fun. (No one else fucking did though) It was hard and frustrating as FUCK in a couple spots, but cool and fun again once I finally got past the big alien praying mantis titty monster thing. That shit was harder than the final boss and it was basically only the half-way point boss. They kinda fucked up there, but no complaints about anything else from me. Dunno why everyone else hated it so much.

E3 Gameplay 2 : Hell
There has been ample discussion already of the gameplay sizzlers. Ranging from it looking too clunky and slow, to the executions breaking the flow that people were expecting. Either way I am really excited for this because I think it looks absolutely gorgeous and gruesome.

People were pretty amazed by the looks of Doom 3 when it came out. But I guess shortly after they got a copy of it and started working through it, they fell out of love with it for one reason or another. (Nothing shows that more than how quickly it became impossible to find Doom 3 deathmatches to play in online.) Either they thought the inclusion of the PDA tablet and how that became the way the game told the "story" was pointless and stupid, or they didn't like the periods of stumbling through the darkness without dozens and dozens of enemies to kill quickly and violently like in Doom and Doom II. Sorry folks, but you're probably not gonna see another FPS that plays just like Doom or Doom II. The enemies were stupid, slow, predictable, and pretty easy to defeat, even the more difficult ones of the games. It was fun and instantly gratifying to kill herds of pinky demons with one blast of a shotgun, but it's different times. They only made games that simple and easy back then because they HAD to.
Personally, I fucking LOVED Doom 3. Only complaint I had was that the weapons got to be kinda boring after a bit. It would've made it a little more interesting if they would included more than 8 guns, maybe some different types of weapons, or even the ability to upgrade weapons as the story progresses to increase their power or modify functionality kinda like Quake4 did.
Can't fucking
wait
to play Doom 4!
Dunno if I'll be able to though. I'll probably have to upgrade to a better video card. This Radeon 6450 is a
peese of sheeeeit
. 1gb of video memory, but performs with games like it has half or less.

This is supposed to finally be released some time this coming mid-May (fingers crossed). From the shit I've seen on their site, multiplayer probably won't be as fun as Quake2... nothing ever will... but god dammit, it'll definitely be purty as hell. I'll more than likely be getting myself a copy of this game for XboxOne rather than PC. Based on what I've seen in the multiplayer demo video, the system requirements will probably be pretty steep to run it with all the graphical bells and whistles, and I haven't updated anything on my PC since I got it 3 or 4 years ago. And even when it was brand new outta the box, it still had trouble running Saints Row 3 with any of the fancy graphics options enabled or a resolution higher than 1024x768. On XboxOne, shit always runs as fast as it probably should without the need to update video cards and tweak shit. Sure, you don't get a mouse to aim and shoot with but... yeah, I think that was supposed to lead into me saying something positive about using Xbox dual-joysticks, but there's not really anything positive about it when it comes to mouse vs gamepad joysticks in shooter games, so fuck it.
I guess one big plus about playing it on XboxOne will be that I can use my ultraHD TV rather than my shitty little old archaic non-widescreen 16 inch monitor to play it. Turn all the lights off, crank the surround system. Fuck yeah.
