Servers Lag

I think its been already stated that the servers are laggging.
I dont know why they lag, but i think some players are getting it worse than others.

In my attempt to play random today, every interaction i had with sir jackass involved me trying to shoot him while taking into consideration my freezes and glitching. i took screen shots and called some time outs to capture what popped up on my netgraph.

although some of the green hills appear tiny, they have a massive impact on gameplay, pretty much making 3-5 second gaps of unplayable game. Its like an earthquake being drawn on the chart upon every interaction.

Any thoughts or updates?

I will disagree, i think tastyspleen is good, i think some of the characters found here and in the game test the definition of being human.

back on topic, im still gettting earthquakes during gameplay, if anyone has any server updates please share. Id like to know if its me or server, so i can figure out whats wrong if it is me.

If you actually want help with this issue and you aren't just trying to waste someone's time, please spend a bit of your own time researching, and gathering information, then post some things that will clarify the situation.
If you do this, people will actually be able to help you.

for example: "My netgraph looks like X" is not as useful as most people think unless something amazing is happening on it.

"My netgraph looks like X while normally it looks like Y" is slightly useful.

"Here's a traceroute that I performed to the servers during the event and then one that represents normal gameplay" would be even better.

As it is, all anyone can tell you with certainty from the screenshots you posted is that you either have a really jacked up bunch of video settings or a clunker computer. We can also see how ugly your pak looks.

There's not much else there on which to form conclusions.

it's prolly been said many times before, but tastyspleen is a free server, more often than not it's the clients issue as to why there are lag problems. could be spyware/malware. or it could be programs running i nthe background. be sure to close everything out before playing. also cable has been known to have the ability to to crap out during peak times. it varies.

Some routers are configured not to respond to pings.

Just ignore that one, as you can see there appears to be no effect on the following hops.

To troubleshoot further, you'll want a (free) tool like WinMTR:

http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/

Go into "Options" and check Resolve names, and for Interval (sec), enter: 0.016

Then click "OK" out of options, and put tastyspleen.net into the Host field, and click Start.

This will simulate a 60Hz packet rate for the trace, that is a lot more similar to network packet rate while you're playing Q2.

Wait a minute or two, then hit "Stop" and "Copy text to clipboard"

That is a rather strange result.

Notice that you had 0% loss to tastyspleen.net itself, which is the part that ultimately matters to your Q2 client.

I wonder if, for whatever reason, the 0.016 packet rate was too high for the routers to bother to reply to all the TTL expired packets.

I'd suggest trying again with a packet rate of 0.1, just to see whether the stats for the rest of the route start to look more reasonable.

But again, the 0% loss to tastyspleen.net was the key result.

Im not sure how to judge my connection overall. I am losing on average 30% of my packets sent and received.... but then again it says ts is receiving 100%.... i dont know how that makes sense...

edit: I see at the first line, that i am receiving 99% of packets....so i guess the losses are both up and downstream....

i guess this program implies that i use the same path for travel to and from ts? so the loss is inclusive for both directions of travel?

is there Anyway to improve any of this? or am i toast
