Dont know  what is happening here, did he get kicked for anticheat violation? Or is it just repeated failed files while joining a server? I have seen many people join a TS server failing files, asking him to upload failed files sounds great but what about every other person who fails all sorts of files like weapons, loud sounds ect? I know :iR: servers kick for bad files or failed files, is the same going to happen for DM, railz ect? ( i wish it would)

Also his pak looks a bit like claus pak. The hyperblaster anyways

I looked them over with QuArK to see if the wireframes had any protruding spikes or anything, but I didn't see any. I don't know for sure, but the 4 you posted appear to be the original stock models, which SHOULDN'T get flagged. I did not actually load the files into a pak and try to connect anywhere with them to see what would happen, partly because I'm just not interested quite enough to do so, but mostly because they're missing the skins. So at first glance, these 4 models appear to be legit. I don't know exactly what the hell started all this, I guess you had failed file checks for something. It would help to know exactly WHICH files were being flagged, because like I said, it doesn't appear as though these 4 should be getting flagged. If these 4 are modified in some way, it's very minor and appears to be legal, and I would go ahead and include their definitions or whatever to the hash list as acceptable files. I doubt it actually is any of these 4 models getting flagged though.

A few possible scenarios I see here:

A. These are not the models getting flagged and you uploaded the wrong thing.
B. These ARE the particular models getting flagged and you intentionally uploaded the stock ones instead of the actual ones you're using hoping to calm everybody's tits.
or
C. "Possibly" you have your folders so clusterfucked that it's somehow giving you a false positive.

In the case of C, maybe sometimes people swap out paks a zillion times without really knowing what they're doing. Or maybe they download shit they don't know about from a server that makes odd changes to their game files and folder structures or whatever. Or maybe they just take a bunch of different files and start pasting them repeatedly and haphazardly into actual folders instead of pak files, and in the process, they completely fuck their shit all to hell. Notice I said "possibly" for C too. I dunno for sure. But maybe if someone screwed their folders up so bad that they ended up with the wrong models in the wrong folders even though they are ALL legit models, maybe maybe maybe it would spit back something saying the files were bad because they're just not the correct files for where AC is checking for them to be? Someone else would have to verify or deny this to be possible. That's above my pay grade.

Frankly I have no idea. My reaction was in response to what appeared to be a litany of excuses.

Although I must say I hadn't noticed the files he'd posted, as they don't show up in the Recent Posts view.

In any case, what I'm seeing in the server logs are the more ordinary unknown-file reports, rather than any kickable violations for known-bad files:

Assuming the hashes in the server logs are straight unsalted sha1's, the uploaded files don't match any of the listed unknown-file hashes. These are the hashes of the uploaded files:

beaver{KEA} -- when using r1q2, the 'whereis' console command will tell you where r1q2 is loading any particular file. For example:

  whereis players/male/tris.md2
  players/male/tris.md2 is found on disk as ./baseq2/players/male/tris.md2, 278592 bytes.


By using the 'whereis' command, you should be able to locate and upload the files AC is complaining about.

Thats a long list of modified files. I think the most I have seen was from stingray. 74 failed files or something like that. He could just have like 50 different pak files in his baseq2 like foc said and its causing some issues

I didn't actually care enough to download them and check them until later, and I am sorry to have been complicit in wasting anyone's time who did so.

This entire thing occurred because I mentioned to the guy that he should get some models that pass the AC file checks, or I wouldn't be popping over to acme to play while he was there. (He was using invite to try to draw people over to acme, and I counter-invited him to fix his shit)

The goal behind getting him to post the actual .md2 files was indeed to have something against which to compare the server logged hashes of the files that were not recognized.
I have seen cases where people had a model that did not match the stock model hashes that everyone else is using, and yet appeared to be exactly like the original. Usually it had something to do with the file being compressed or changed in some non-nefarious way from the original, making it technically a different file when a hash was generated.


I fully intend to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the lack of my presence on servers he frequents should those files happen to be non-advantageous replacement models, or models that are legit but do not have the same hashes as the known ones.

As of yet, I have never seen a replacement weapon.md2 that someone would use on a daily basis instead of the stock blaster model, that was not an attempt at a nosepak or spiked model. Maybe we'll all see a new thing out of this.

And I don't really see the problem here. I mean if you're using spiked models... dude... that's fucking lame,... cut it out. But you're using AC apparently. It's not like they're KNOWN bad files. Dunno why Dervish would trip this bad about something so minor. Then again, a few other people come up with these same kinds of "modified" file flaggings and no one seems to give a shit to get to the bottom of it. Maybe he figures at this point the only damn way to get anyone to pay any attention to it is to cause an all out fucking scene over it. So if people wanna shut him the hell up about this kinda stuff, either the people he's fucking with need to come forward and get this shit squared away once and for all, or admins need to start tracking these people down and dealing with it actively. There's some "Milky" guy (I think, maybe wrong) who I know he usually makes a comment or two to when he shows up with some kinda failed NoCheat renderer check or something like that. If it's innocent, no harm no foul. Why not help these few people fix their shit if it's broke? And if they turn out to be actually cheating, then you'll succeed in rooting it out finally.

I would be looking into people like rH:[chacal] who fails files on a regular and consistent basis, who when challenged about his failed files says he isn't failing anything when clearly he is then says he doesnt know what anticheat is yet after calling him on his failed files, he quits then returns without anticheat. All told, he came to the server to blather at me from spec after I sent an invite back to him telling him I'd not be going to acme till he got some player models that passed ac file checks. Then he went full retard after I was mean to him.

When he showed up to talk at me, it was WITHOUT anticheat. This was the same person I'd seen with bad ac file checks repeatedly, who was seemingly celebrating that Acme no longer requires anticheat and how great of a thing that was a couple months back.
Had it been footsteps or rg hum or something, I'd just say w/e and occasionally mock him for it like I do to the other guys who need that shitty little advantage, but no.. it was player models, which are effectively the easiest way to cheat while showing ac valid.

Contrary to what people claim about me, I do care a great deal about Q2 and part of that is caring enough to be paranoid about stuff that looks obviously odd, and watching out for people possibly abusing the fact that fewer and fewer servers are running any form of cheat protection and very few admins have the time to be making demos of suspect play or even checking them closely enough to spot something if someone else made the demos for them.

There are so few people actively trying to keep the game fair and clean that I feel compelled to be abrasive and implacable about it.

Either we'll need to generate a gargantuan AC hash file that allows every model on the server to be swapped in place of male/female/cyborg without triggering an AC unknown-file violation; or maybe some sort of admin tool that will search all of baseq2/players for a matching hash value. But it would help to be able to resolve a lot of modified file reports more quickly and more painlessly...

See, I figured it would be something stupid like that. In my opinion, it's really no more wrong to replace a stock model with a known legit custom model than it is to add a pak that changes the weapon/ammo/number icons. Just individual aesthetic preference and it's not converging into "cheat" territory. Sucks that you'd probably have to spend over an hour scripting something out to cross-reference shit like that, but I guess it's always been needed.

It's got me thinking though... I've talked a bit in the recent past about how I'm in the middle of making a new pak that has lots of unique custom models. I think I've had my AC file moved out of my Q2 folder since I started work on it. I just stuck it back in and connected to vanilla, DM, and irtdm to see if any of the models I've made so far would get flagged. But... dunno what the problem is, but AC isn't connecting up right. It keeps saying "|iR|Focalor is not using anticheat" even though I clearly see plain as day that I stuck the DLL in the folder.

Anyway, I don't really give a damn if AC won't connect. My concern is that if it starts working again, it'll start flagging me for one of these models. So far I have 14 unique unknown models. I don't "think" any of them should be files that would be flagged as modified because the models they replace probably aren't models that you could devise a way to cheat with anyway.

I'll post a list of what I've modified so far. My question(s) is... are any of these anything that would be flagged if you modified them? Which other models, if I modified them, would be flagged? If I happen to make any of these models that would be flagged as unknown/modified, is there a way I can submit them to be added to AC?
