Files needed to set up a rail server

Hello everyone. I am a high school. teacher who teaches video game making using the Unreal Development Kit (UDK). There is a specific criteria that I use in marking the 3D models and game levels that they make. One of the things that I mark on is playability of the level. For example, is there a camping spot? Is one area not balanced? Etc.
In order to know what a good level looks like I have them play Quake 2 with me. I have downloaded many rail, and non rail maps, and we play them and discuss why they are good, why they are not good, and how they can be improved. I wish to run my own internal rail server so that me and my students can also learn the skills of running and configuring a gaming server. So what I am asking is this:
What files do I need to run the rail server?
Where are they located?
And I hope that the instructions are also included.

If I had FTP access to my clans server, I could probably download the files, edit out a few top secret things and then put it somewhere for you to download. But... I don't. So hopefully Dervish (who admins the iR servers) or someone else will come along shortly and post whatever you need. Dunno if you'll be able to find it searching Google on your own. Tried it myself a minute ago and didn't really find anything.

Falocor uses every opportunity to be an asshole, and does it indiscriminately towards everyone, just to inflate his own flailing ego. At least someone is trying to do something creative with his time and teach others to their own ability, possibly in another country. You should check out the following place, it has all sorts of resources for people trying to learn how to make maps, models, and better weapon layout for Quake related servers not excluding rail. All these methodology and design principles can easily be translated into UDK, and are a good starting point dealing with basics. There you'll also find people who will help you with more than just setup without insulting you in the process.

Yes you are correct that I made a grammar mistake, more of a typo. I do usually proof read my postings but that one I did not. And no I do not teach grammar.

You could probably get this working fairly easily. Install q2 on the server box, unzip that in at the mod level and use the config editor as a launcher. It has some documentation in the zip.

I use a similar OSP tourney mod for our rail servers because the mod came with bot support. It has some issues that keep it from being the best mod to use on public servers on the internet, but in a LAN setup it should be just fine.

The config editor it comes with should suffice to get you a working ffa or team rail server with a little bit of effort on the existing config files. You can also easily edit the .cfg files that it uses in notepad and toggle values until you get something you want for a LAN testing server. They are commented well enough that you shouldn't get too lost going through them manually.
