In a dual windows 7 - windows XP machine i must switch everytime in the bios ?

In my dual windows 7 - windows XP machine i must switch everytime in the bios settings between the two sata type. If not, blue screen appears for a second and restarts, if windows XP doesen't have the right SATA Type. For windows 7, is just restarting.  In the below settings i can switch bettwen twoSATA Type.
Advanced - IDE Configuration - OnCHIP SATA Type
- IDE - AHCI
or
- Native IDE

So, IDE - AHCI setting works only for windows 7 and Native IDE works only for windows XP. How can they find by themselfs, withot my intervention, the right settings ?
