After researching for weeks for a new TV and Blue-Ray player I finally decided on a 40" Dynex LCD. Even the employee at Best Buy said this was the best bang for the buck. He also informed me the Insignia is the same as Toshiba, so I should just that purchase that brand for my Blu-Ray player.

I brought every thing home and attempted to set it up. It was a pain to setup, I could not understand the "easy" to read instructions.I also did not know I needed an HDMI cable. So I went back to the Best Buy store and the employee sold me on this, wow I was relieved. I was ecstatic that my new purchase was going to be even better than I originally thought because of this exquisite cable.

I was also pleased to find out that Geek Squad would install all of this for the low price of $129.00. I even purchased the extended warranty for only $249.00 in case my cable broke. With so much data travelling through the cable at such high speeds this is a must.

Yeah, I couldn't think where else to post it besides the Jokes section, but the reviews from these audio magazines were apparently meant to be taken seriously by readers.

My favorites are the ones that concern purely digital equipment, such as USB or HDMI cables, or the wooden platform onto which to place your CD player.

E.g. a $40 USB cable that, "helped the sound retain cohesion and musicality, although it became apparent that detail was sapped, while the overall performance became slightly thin and lacking in body."

The level of stupid involved is just...

(For those unfamiliar with these technologies, the data packets in USB and HDMI are checksummed. If the data doesn't arrive intact, it is retransmitted. The cable has fuck-all to do with the 'musicality' of the audio. It's equivalent to saying, I used this special Ethernet cable between my modem and my PC when I downloaded these games from Steam, and one can appreciate how the depth of the hues and vividness of the 3D rendering in the game are improved as a result.)

Yep. That's how you know it's a fake review. Extended warranties are so famous for basically being scams that I'm surprised any retailer even bothers doing them anymore. Having your employees offer them is not good for business in my opinion. When I'm checking out and someone says, "Would you like to purchase the extended warranty for only 5 dollars?", What I actually hear is, "Can we fuck you out of an extra 5 bucks?" Not a good way to make me feel warm and fuzzy about your store.

HDMI and USB (if used properly) shouldn't have any audible noise. Any interference should merely drop some data being transmitted. Unless you are modulting analog shit through USB (for which it is also used once in a while). Correct me if I'm wrong, that is.
