Mario Kart 64

Creep, random, cb and myself have been playing mario kart over the past several months on the project64k emulator and its crazy fun. I am sure most of you remember the video game system as well as the game. For the record, I want to own ex and the rest of the clowns 

I have already mentioned this to several of you, and most of you had interest in playing because it sounded like fun. So l am creating this thread with the files, and with specific instructions, so that when the time comes, its just a couple clicks away to play.

Trust me its extremely fun...

So i have attached the Emulator, and the Mario Kart ROM in this thread, as well as provided some outside links in case you have no brain.

Please follow these instructions step by step:

1. Create a New Folder on your Desktop
2. Rename this folder EMULATOR
3. Download the files i have attached / or get them from the links:

4. Locate these files after you downloaded them, and unzip/extract them to your freshly created EMULATOR folder on your desktop.
 - note: if you would like, you can also move the original .rar files from the folder you downloaded them into, and into the emulator folder on the desktop just for organization sake

5. At this point, open the EMULATORS folder on your desktop, you should have the Project64k2 folder as well as the ROMS folder visible.

6. Open the Project64k2 folder, and locate the .exe (the cloud turtle)

7. Right click the file, and create a shortcut

8. Drag this shortcut out of the folder, and onto your desktop
(this will make it easier for you, so you no longer have to open multiple folders to open the program when you want to play)

9. double click the shortcut on your desktop and open Project64k!

10. On the menu bar, click OPTIONS ----> SETTINGS

11. click the PLUGINS TAB and use the following
VIDEO: Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6
AUDIO: Jabo's DirectSound 1.6
INPUT: Jabo's DirectInput7 1.40

12. click the DIRECTORIES TAB next

13. Where it says ROM DIRECTORY, click the ... button, and locate the folder where Mario kart is.
Remember, this folder is located on your desktop, within your EMULATORS folder that you created in step 1.
For example, mine is: C:\Users\COMP\Desktop\emulator\roms\

14. click the OPTIONS TAB next
make sure the second option (pause emulation when window is not active) is UNCHECKED!!!!!!

15. CLICK OK and go back to the main menu

16. once again goto OPTIONS then ---> Configure Controller Plugin
What you want to do is change the bottom left 6 keys to however you want to play with. We have found that using the following configuration is good:
A: A  = gas
B: S = brake
S: Enter  = start button
L: D = audio
R: F = hop/jump
Z: Space = attack (throw shell) (hold to time release)

(so your left hand 4 fingers will be on ASDF and your left thumb is on the space bar, while your right hand uses the arrow keys for direction)

Also, before clicking OK, make sure you have the box checked next to PLUGGED IN
At this point, you can save your profile in case you forget the keys

17. Click OK and go back to the main menu
18. Click File --> Refresh Rom list
if you see mario kart, you are in good shape

19. at this point, you can double click the game and play single player to test it out

20. MULTIPLAYER:
Click File ---> Start Net Play

21. At the top right, Click Connection Setting: LAN
Also: Change Mode should be set to Client
Every player who you are trying to play with, must have these settings be exactly the same or the game will not start.

Click the button titled MAster Servers list
locate the server named: The Temple of Conaaando
and join it

At this point, create a game or join and get ready to play

You only have to set it up once, then its just a matter of opening the shortcut from the dekstop and joining the server. I have included everything, Set up should take 20 mins and then you are set for life. Its very very fun, so hurry up!

p much all n64 ems suck ass. the frame rates choppy and the controls are clunky no matter what you have bound.

that being said i could probably own everyone on this forum in mk64. no one has beaten triple green shell shield and no one ever will

nah mang, the 4 of us average 50-60fps. this emulator is specific for mario kart and works great. Weve been playing for months now. I hope u guys install it, it would be super fun

We all know you have a fascination with shooting stuff in and at 2ds bum.  But the rest of us... not so much...

Eric stop being a meanie

2dum, the fps that shitty emulator displays isn't accurate... I'm sure it can be fun for y'all though. If you like it a lot, get dolphin and play Mk double dash for gamecube. You can get a GC controller from best buy that plugs into your CPU, the game play is better, solid fps, etc. Its actually perfect for a game like Mario kart(this emulator has been perfected for games far more technical and demanding than Mk).
