wall hack info

On occasion I play on a server that has no cheat protection. Today I was on it and one player was shooting grenades around a corner, i.e. through a wall. Is there any thing you can run while quaking that will let you see if some one is wall hacking??

Were the grenades like going through the wall itself, or was it that he knew where to fire them all the time? And if so, why not use rockets instead? Just curious

I was under the impression that it was server admins themselves, not players, that could check for hacks. I could be wrong tho

The map was lost hallways. I was on the walk way by the quad, going toward the ladder that takes you upsatirs and onto the main level. (above the chain gun) As I came around the corner by the ladder coming out of the water in the quad area a player came down the ladder and ran toward me.

I had no ammo left so backed up to the entrance way by the elevator to the grenade launcher. This guy starts to fire grenades and they came around the corner. He was not ricocheting (sp) off of anything. These grenades literally arced around the corner and came right to where I was standing. it was like they had legs.

(a). Grenades can't turn corners.

(b). They traveled much father than they normally would.

Makes me think they came through the wall.

Any one else experiance any thing like this in the last while??

I am at a total loss for words on that one. Never had anything like that happen to me, and if it did, that would be one less server I would play on...:wink: Homing grenades maybe

This sounds exceptonally odd.  If that is happening then it is not normal.  Keep in mind that "wallhack" is generally a term used when a player can _see_ through a wall, not shoot through them.  This sounds odd.

In the hands of a good grenade tosser (an oxymoron perhaps) grenades are the best weapons ever.  They are the only weapon that can shoot around a corner, shoot behind you as you run forward via a bankshot or shoot in a non-linear capacity.  Obviously these are all common strategies and it is a great pleasure to intentionally frag someone with your back turned to them, especially if it is with intent and knowledge of their position and the bankshot needed to get them.  I also like to lay down a few strategic grenades and watch them jump away from one and onto another one.  When done right, it's more like "3 moves to checkmate" than raw fraggage.  In this way, I think that grenades take real skill to master.

There are mods where a homing rocket is actually a weapon...were you in a different mod perhaps?Or maybe that player was the console..and he was having a lil fun at your expense.Laser guided missles are the best...steering them around a corner to frag someone is the best!

They're running a version of lithium without the extra lithium stuff...  It's pretty much a straight forward dm server but they probably have the ability to change around the weapons using the lithium mod.  My guess.

Sisters of the Worthless Server is more like it... I hate that server. They have some kind of weird strafe jump disable thing, that is the only server I cannot strafe jump on, I can't even do double jumps on that server. And I am sure they have bots a plenty over there too.

I'm pretty certain that anything like you speak of is impossible to modify on the client side (your machine).  It would have to be something done on the server.  There is no way you can have a bot control the trajectory, speed, etc. of your grenades.  Must have been something with the server.  Some things just can't be hacked on the client side. (as far as I know)

Sounds like he may have been bouncing them off the corner out of your view....either that or .... I hate to say it ... but there are little known holes in some of the original DM maps... eg: in q2dm1...If you stand on a body faceing the wall behind the crates in the mega room where the armor is.... you can shoot through the wall and into the main areana room....

He could have been utilizing one of these little know holes in the map...but I am unfamilier with one in The Lost Hallways. And BTW...I was wondering why I couldn't join the Sisters server.....NoCheat for some reason always dumps my monitor and overheats my vid card after around the 3rd or 4th match....causing total system crash...I got rid of it and the problem went away...which kinda sucks cause I would really like to take advantage of the killer graphics it offers....
