Two things:

#1 can't you just type out "5 minutes" in the you can't rate people popup. I'm too lazy to divide by 60 in my head.

#2 When did that happen?

quick post as i've got to leave for a meeting in a few minutes

the 300 sec delay was the only limiting option available in the mod that seemed possibly useful to prevent a flood of someone rating ancient posts

frankly what i'd want is just that you can't rate a given user more than once per interval, but there was no such option

haunted: in your profile you can see who's given the ratings (the one given looks inappropriate to the content of the message)

i've set up ratings such that if abuse occurs, a given user can be prevented from issuing positive/negative/neutral ratings in any combination

mostly it's supposed to be fun, not tooooo serious, but i'd still be annoyed if someone just starts clicking "racist ignoramus" on random posts, etc.

Ahh I didn't realize that. Nice. I just checked my 3-4 posts I had made that week and didn't see any bad ratings so I figured someone was going back to an old post. Now I see that I was elected to be fried.

A few tweaks -

- reduced rate delay from 300 to 120 sec
- added new neutral ("Whoosh!")
- moved "Obvious Troll" from negative to neutral

Current neutrals are: "Whoosh!", "Obvious Troll", "DO YOU EVEN LIFT", "DEMO OR STFU"





P.S. The ratings mod appears not to be smart enough to re-count totals when the value of a rate type is changed (e.g. negative -> neutral). So, older ratings given with the prior value remain in the system. (I imagine this might be fixed in a future update to the mod.)

My only complaint is that it's so horizontally huge that it takes up a lot of space.

For a while I thought it was something someone put in their signature line.

It should blend in to the regular background unless your mouse hovers over it.

If it's light gray all the time, which browser are you using? If you're using IE, make sure to remove "tastyspleen.net" from the IE menu Tools -> Compatibility View Settings...

On a related note, could it be collapsible? Just some little box with a plus sign and some text: "Click here for Rate Buttons"

If anyone misses the large eye-catching box, then the text could easily just be made bold, scrolling, , and multi-colored. You know, a bit of an attention getter.

I think the icons need to be bigger. At least 600x600 pixels. I'm getting old and my eyesight ain't so good anymore.
