Ax has much broader map knowledge than me, and I think broader than Ely.

Ax has much broader map knowledge than me, and I think broader than Ely.  He also hits shots that I don't expect, even on maps I know like dm8.  Ely tends to stick to vanilla, whereas Ax seems to prefer mutant.  So I've played with Ax more, possibly causing me to be biased.

Unfortunately most of the players that can beat me in 1v1 can also beat me in ffa, like naymlis, kaitech, and a bunch of others.  If these players played ffa more I would probably put them in front of ax and ely.

Edit: Also, since I got a new computer for Christmas and no longer suffer from fps issues, I have been spending much more of my time on the tourney servers.  I still enjoy a good ffa every now and then, but its not nearly as often.

Interesting analysis of Ax vs Ely!  I really couldn't judge.  I've never seen them on at the same time.

Definitely when people talk about "best FFA" there is an implied assumption about it being players who actually play FFA semi-regularly.  There are some pretty intense FFA demos of Purri and others during tourney qualifiers.
