Faderjok ban status

Fader has been banned for about 7 weeks now.

He was banned for conducting an rcon flood attack against a server running on tastyspleen hardware (WHALE) which persisted for at least an hour.

This attack functions by continuously flooding a server with enough rcon packets to disrupt the ability of admins or rcon-based services like WallFly from being able execute rcon commands, thus preventing rcon-based enforcement of kicks, bans, etc.  This kind of attack will have a varying degree of success depending on how the Q2 server is configured.


Since shortly after the ban, Fader claims to have broken contact with Razor:

Anyway...

After discussion w/ other admins, the consensus seems to be to unban at this point.

Mitigating factors were:

  - the attack causes no permanent harm to the Q2 server
  - age 16 at the time
  - first offense
  - seven week ban should be long enough to communicate that this level of offense isn't taken lightly

Stipulations are:

  - Fader needs to understand that any further 'shenanigans' of this caliber would likely result in perm-ban.

So:

The ban is now removed.

Well, I can sympathize with fader in regard to not being able to play, and I'm indifferent over the decision really. I don't like to see people banned from having fun on the servers despite the circumstance.

But, just an observation of mine: this morning I noticed razor "Cheeta" was the first to view my thread directed to vae in smack talk. Him and I were the only users on, and there were no hidden users.

At this point I am wondering, since there's always been beef between vae and fader, perhaps he will link fader to this since they probably giggle about the q2 scene all day with each other. . .

A "hidden" account appears within a minute or two(fader had his account on "hidden" up until a few minutes ago it seems), and fader responds at « Reply #4 on: Today at 09:02:24 AM »

I don't mean to discredit this decision or anything, but just for public knowledge, I really doubt he's stopped associating with Razor... although I really wish he would. I'll finish by saying that I wholeheartedly apologize if this is just a mere coincidence, even if it's a part of a reoccurring pattern on many occasions.

Yeah; and while we're on the topic of him, I don't really see any harm in unbanning him. The only worst case scenario that can come from it is that he does a Kvaki and goes apeshit with spamming wallh4x everywhere, and I don't think that's something he'd do after legitimately trying to get back on for a good six months now.

why would we do anything based on word of the guy who just got unbanned for being a dick and wasting people's time?

I say we all wait until fader does something to piss razor off and watch as kimpis throws him under the bus with a "xD he's been talking to me all along and I gave him hax! lol horsefucker" like he's done to every other person stupid enough to associate with him. then we mock him harshly.
