Personally, I can't see why someone would want to go and see Axl Rose and his bloated late-Elvis looking ass belting out his GnR greatest hits in horrible strangled cat fashion. But when you've got PAYING CUSTOMERS and LOYAL FANS at the door and you're gonna turn them away based on what they choose to wear? You've gotta be the biggest fucking spoiled little baby primadonna bitch. I mean Axl Rose has always been a notorious prick, but considering he's nothing but a nostalgia has-been act these days, this shit is just on a whole new level of assholiness.

Also, who the fuck would pay to go see GnR?  They were always mediocre at best.  They had some good songs, but overall, I wouldn't call them anywhere near any of the greatest bands in rock history, that's for sure.  The musicians in the band are actually pretty good, but with Axl Rose in there, he pretty much minuses them all out.  And another thing, WHY CAN'T HE SING IN A NORMAL VOICE??  That higher pitch strangled sound always annoyed me, especially since I've heard him sing lower and he sounds a lot better in his normal voice.

And one last thing, what kind of moron talks about his next album, Chinese Democracy, is going to be one of the greatest albums ever made, then sits on it for 15 years, and finally pushes out a steaming wet turd?  It doesn't even sound right anymore.  The music doesn't make sense, the album name should've been changed, everything about his style is diarrhea.

As much as I think that Axl Rose is a total cliche asswipe rock star, I still gotta admit that Guns N Roses made some of the best music that came out of that era. Axl had a singing style that was a bit rough and screamy but it always fit the particular song very well. I mean how can you NOT love a song like Welcome to the Jungle? The song just sounds like the most awesome keg, cocaine, and hooker party you've ever been to at Satan's house. You can't deny that they had a genius knack for writing and arranging songs. And the record company recognized this, especially after their debut album Appetite for Destruction had so much success. For that reason, they were paid HANDSOMELY. And not only that, the record company gave them a HUGE budget for a follow up album. This is how Axl Roses head was allowed to grow so fucking enormously huge. And then they came out with Use Your Illusion 1 and 2. You'll remember that a few songs from that album had a full orchestra accompanying the band. That's big money for some gutter-rat heavy metal band. Those two albums sold HUGE too. And as much I'd probably want to punch Axl Rose in the face if I ever had to talk to him in person for 5 minutes, I still gotta admit Guns N Roses had a winning formula. It's just unfortunate that the egos in the band ended up ripping that formula apart when certain band members left. And after Use Your Illusion, anything they did without Axl was just not GnR anymore. Personally, I love Slash as a guitarist and songwriter, he's one of the best that's ever been, but Velvet Revolver and Slash's Snakepit just ain't the same. Pretty sad how they put together some of the most beautifully written songs on both of the Use Your Illusion albums and then never really got a chance to evolve the sound and progress past those albums. Would've been interesting to see what could've come after that.

There is no doubt that GnR made awesome music.  None of the offshoots have been near as good. 
This just shows that each of them have talent and together they made it work, but seperately their music is not the same.
IMO Axl was the weaker link and his attitude today is why I say he is a douche.

This kind of thing is not simple douchebaggery. It's a display of how childish these people became because they decided to stop living in the real world.

Looking at it from the perspective of an "artist", the money wouldn't matter. And maybe that's the best thing. Look at Metallica. I can't really say that they have made as much quality music since big-time money entered the picture after their self-titled "black album". They ended up breaking up for a while too. During that time, they supposedly got their individual shit straightened out. After that, they realized what kind of money they could make if they reunited, and from the sound of what they've released, I'd have to say that the main priority in reuniting the band was "Let's see how much money and further success we can obtain." and not "What kind of art can we produce." Some people like it. Not me. Not at all. I compare everything they've done since 1992 to the "black album" and NONE of it is nearly as intricate, soulful, and nuanced. Granted they did set the bar pretty high with that album, which would probably be hard to top both in sense of musicality and business success, but everything else since then just seems lazily thrown together and rushed. James Hetfields vocals are the biggest thing. Somewhere along the line, producers stopped forcing him to sing with the same aggression and passion, and he doesn't seem to give a damn that his vocals are delivered with almost no feeling to them, and now he sounds like a nutless wailing old man. And because of that, it doesn't matter HOW good the songs and the musicians are, the end result will never sound good. A great band isn't just the guitarist, or just the drummer, or just the singer. It's the WHOLE package. If any one piece is missing, the whole thing suffers.

Jimi Hendrix for example. Arguably the single greatest rock guitarist who ever lived. He was an artist and a virtuoso. Even with his other-worldly style of playing and his unique singing voice, his music might not have had the same effect without a wildman drummer like Mitch Mitchell along with perfectly choreographed bass lines of Noel Redding.

So I gotta honestly say from a true fans perspective that if a band is butting heads too bad to work properly in a studio setting, then the music will suffer. And if a band is going to put out one AWESOME record, follow it up with an EVEN BETTER record, then follow that one up with a series of progressively horrible albums... I'd prefer it if they'd just call it quits and leave the legacy of that good quality music alone. There's nothing worse than a band that does truly great things with musical art and then pisses all over it by selling out and losing focus. It would've been nice if we all remembered Elvis as the handsome strutting lady-killer that he was in the beginning. But when you think of Elvis, what do you see? That's right, you see a fat, sweaty, coked-up porker miraculously wedged into a ridiculous looking white sequined bellbottom unitard thats nearly bursting at the seams and he can't remember the lyrics to his own songs. It's better to burn out all at once than to fade away.
