how do i host a quake 2 server

I dont know if its 1500kbps or 3000kbps but i know its effing fast

I can download usually 100-500 kbps when i download

I wanna host a game cuz its interesting

ps... tell me how it appears thru gamespy or gamespy arcade or ase or gameaholic .... maybe i can host a second server

is there any thing i can download to host a q2 server like the other games

like when u go to the multiplayer section of  a game it says  host game and it has a button that says Osend heartbeat to master gamespy serverO

you need to find out what your upload speed is. Q2 is all upload dependent
your pob on 3mb/384  but who knows

also you wanna have a staic ip or run a progam to redirect everyone to your dynamic ip i use no-ip  because im on a very dynamic dsl connect and my ip are always changing. but pinkdotts.servequake.com
will always point back to me. also depending if your using a router or modem youll need to open ports on it to allow traffic through to your q2 server

best thing to do is make a new shortcut to a new config file
like so  C:\Quake2\quake2.exe +set dedicated 1 +set game dm +exec server.cfg

then youl need a config file in your baseq2 folder called server.cfg because in the link above its exec server.cfg
heres an example

set deathmatch 1
set maxclients 8
set timelimit 20
set fraglimit 2
set rate 10000
