Tourney 4: Discussion/Settings

So what should the settings be?

My thoughts:

- Teaming, people can pick whom they want to team with, but one of the teammates must have posted their team on this thread (http://tastyspleen.net/quake/forums/index.php?topic=1887)
then after the deadline the people who don't care/can't find a partner will be paired off randomly.
- best 2 out of 3 games
- friendly fire on (this means you can hurt or kill your teammate)
- quad, invul. and powershield off
- bfg on
- each team has a right to 1 hold/pause by the referee (up to 5 minutes) and 1 timeout by typing 'time' or 'timeout' (1 minute)
- 15 minute matches; 2 minute overtimes
- ventrilo/teamspeak, bright skins, timers, locs, and binds are all allowed

Team A picks their own map out of the official maps (that will be voted on), Team B does the same thing for the second match, and the tiebreaker map is decided beforehand between the two teams. and possibly set a limit as to how many times a map can be picked so there is variety? 


Any input is welcome and all differences will be voted on.

I agree with all of that, suppose I hate 15 minute matches, but that's cool I suppose, powershield could be replaced with powerscreen, bfg on = yeaaaah... friendly fire = on.. that will make it so its pure frag skill not impairing frag skill by having to watch out for your team mates, but then again, id prefer it off, because it's just not teams without the occasional team kill.

I have never used ventillo or teamspeak.  I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not.  I would have to buy a microphone for one.

limit the amount of times a map can be chosen?  only part that doesnt sound right to me.

I suggest we enforce this rule:
Each player must record a demo and submit it to an admin or post it online otherwise their team will be disqualified

This way if there is any dispute of cheating of any kind, it can be verified via the demo.

I agree with this, but if every single demo is submitted then the admins will be swamped with demos. I say we do it the udml way, everyone is required to record a demo but only when disputes arise, they are required to send it in. If they can't provide a demo, THEN their team is disqualified.

well i dont see how you can tell if someone is using ventrilo or not, so that doesn't matter too much.. other than I can't use it, especially while in q2 cause my connection sucks so bad hehe...


once you think about it element (to me anyways) bfg being on won't be gay.. i mean probably the only map that will have it is q2dm8 and maybe q2dm2. if you go for bfg in dm8 it leaves your teamate alone for awhile (unless you rj) so it's not a huge advantage.. plus i think there is skill involved with using it.

i love quad/invuln... especially on dm2/dm3... but in 2's??? idk. probably not... my opinion.


I go with defiant's qcon method proposal.. 5 maps are randomly selected (out of 8, my suggestion), and then each team get's to veto 1.

5 random maps selected out of the top 8 in the map poll (haunted's proposal). any disagreements?

lol , we could set up a timeframe that if someone lags out they can reconnect and continue the game (a good ref. would pause the match)...or if the other team agrees to redo the match. if the player doesn't come back, ie. quits in the middle, the remaining player can do a 1v2 the rest of the game. same holds true if a partner doesn't show up (like banes in tourney 2) they can still do a 1v2 or if the other team agrees, reschedule the match.
