I tried a bit of this mod out, seems very interesting and I can understand why it was popular and it's always neat to see some old mods get revivals. One issue I have though is that my fov always switches to 90 even though settings.cfg and config.cfg have it set to 120. When I manually set it to 120 in-game, it will switch back to 90 after death. Is it supposed to be like this? Thanks in advance.

I think so. Some mods with zoom functions that take advantage of changing client FOV will force 90 so that the zoom works when needed.

Why would a mod do that? I'm not skeptical, but it just seems so....unnecessary. If you want zoom just do something like this:

alias +sight "set prevfov $fov;set prevsens $sensitivity;fov 40;sensitivity 2"
alias -sight "set fov $prevfov;set sensitivity $prevsens"
alias zoomon +sight
alias zoomoff -sight

bind alt +sight

also, in and around 100 fov is typically ideal for over-all competitive advantage.. if anyone was wondering.

if it's done via aliases then you can flood the server.   My son got kicked from a TS server because of that.

You being in the UK, you shouldn't ping anything close to 200 if you have a good connection. It's because the server is hosted on Trixie's or some else's box. Pretty much everyone pings high there (80-150ms). You guys should think about getting a dedicated server for better pings. Also that way you could play sporadically if you wanted to felt like playing outside of a Chaos play day. I thought I heard getting one from quadz can go as low as $5 a month. Or you could ask for the admins to convert the xrazy server to chaos because I don't see anyone using it after exterminator started to run the FOX server.

Just my two cents.

No, it's NOT suppose to be that way. There's something wrong in your settings (EmeraldTiger) that's resetting it. I play Chaos & don't experience any change in my FOV.  It doesn't change unless I manually want to change it in the game. If you use the cmd that makes the gun visible, it will reset the FOV to 90. Maybe that's what's happening?

This is a first...hearing of this FOV issue. It's not Mod or server related.

Also I prefer 120 FOV for gaming.   ;)

Hmm... I did try setting cl_gun to 0 and setting hand to 2 (both of which makes the gun invisible) to see what would happen, though it still resets after I die. Am I looking at the wrong commands? Also, when I manually edit the fov value in config.cfg, it will reset it back to 90 in that text file, so it's resetting my changes not only in-game but in my config as well. Very strange.

Try changing it in the autoexec.cfg

If you connect to a mod server while in a different mod/stock Q2 it doesn't load the custom config.cfg file for the mod so try execing the config.cfg in the console after you log in to the server (I have to do that).
