well u already said i cheat ages ago when i was still in iR you asked me point blank if i wall hacked. you are entitled to your opinionĀ  :thumbsup:

Notice your OWN wording there. I "asked" you if you were wallhacking at the time. I never said anything like, "faggot (bundle of sticks)! I KNOW UR CHEETING! U GOT WALLHAX0Rz!", which is something you've done to multiple people. I simply "asked" you. First and foremost, (as I've outlined already in this thread) I "asked" you because of your consistent display of poor sportsmanship. When someone would beat you, you would sometimes (and still do) go off on them with "Fag" remarks or accuse them of cheating, which was an initial red flag indicating you were the type of personality that would be likely to experiment with hacks. That alone was not enough to cause me to suspect anything, but it was enough to make me wonder just how far you would be willing to go to win. Then when I noticed on a few occasions how you were able to use cover and timing shots a little more effectively than I'd anticipate a 200+ pinger would be able to, yeah, I figured I'd "ASK" just for the hell of it, mainly to gauge your reaction to such a question to see if I could spot any deception in whatever response I got.

My opinion... you've already heard before. You're an annoying little prick. You invest way too much in the outcome of a video game. And that is why this thread even has a reason to exist. Someone with a ping multiple times better than yours beats you, and you act surprised and offended by it. And rather than accepting the simple fact that you lost fair and square to someone who already has a distinct advantage over you by way of connection quality, you find it necessary to convince yourself that the other person obviously had to cheat in order to beat you. No. You've got a HORRIBLE ping. Regardless of how well you play, you're inevitably going to be on the short end of the stick and lose from time to time.

Let me reiterate... YOU ARE AT A DISADVANTAGE. There is part of a fucking planet blocking the path between you and the game server. There is not part of a fucking planet blocking the path between Skillshot and the game server. Statistically speaking, the odds are in his favor. Accept this fact.

Foc, you hit on a couple good points. The first being that setting swapinterval. If it is set to 1, the mouse would seem slightly lagged and would make landing flick shots difficult. That is EXACTLY what I was experiencing!! I couldn't understand why the entire world could land those so well and I was missing so many of them. It was like my mouse didn't want to do what i was expecting it to do.

Secondly, the ping factor. Alpha plays like he has a ping around 50 as opposed to 200 which always surprises me when I play him. I can see why you'd ask him about hacks in that regard. I don't think alpha hacks. I think he really makes the most of bad ping with good timing shots and reflexes similiar to my reflexes due to no sound. You just get used to your handicap and learn to play with it. Even so, though, eventually a large difference in ping will affect you eventually (just like my lack of sound is my downfall). I'm sure if our pings were reversed, the score would have probably gone the other way.

i dont use swapinterval 0 lol no problem with flick shots here....

tried setting it to 0, didnt notice a difference really.... maybe ill just put it in my config and see how it goes

i really use swapinterval 1 lol go look at my config its been posted in the trouble shooting section a few times, its default to 1 and ive never changed it

just pointing out you dont NEED it set to 0 to rail good, i honestly didnt know bout it til this thread popped up lol never felt my aim was too sluggish, i time all my shots and aim for areas on the map rather than people mostly, so even with a "tar pit" input i can land flick shots... never intended to make the thread about me :) just sayin its not needed and have seen little to no difference when i tried changing it few days ago

you forget im relatively new to q2 and havent been around forever to read all the config tweaks that people love, just pick it up as i go :)

EDIT: yup just checked, its not on r1chs config generator for r1gl :( thats sad if its that important to some people

gl_swapinterval syncs the game to your monitor's refresh rate. I am used to 60hz monitors, my current one is 75. Not everyone has a 120hz monitor.

this means that if I used gl_swapinterval 1, i'd get 75 fps assuming my maxfps is set above that.

If vae has a 120hz monitor and uses gl_swapinterval, he'll still get 119.81987341283712098 fps, or if vae has a 3rd party program like pstrip to alter it beforehand...

I think what I said is right, correct me if I'm wrong if not. My credentials more so lie within the art of dunking on bitches in-game. :rocketleft:

after a quick google search i think swapinterval determines frame buffering, and if people feel less laggy with it set to 0 then their monitor doesnt require the buffer... thats my theory... i really dont know much about rendering though :P

gl_swapinterval is effectively the vsync toggle.

if you use winxp or a standard LCD monitor, you are generally stuck with a 60hz refresh rate unless you use some 3rd party app to get around it. with vsync on, that would cap you at 60fps regardless of your cl_maxfps being higher.

I'm pretty sure the difference in feel and response of the game when you have >60fps is quite noticeable for someone who'd never had it higher than that and played for years. I know the game feels a lot smoother for me running 85fps than it does 60fps, and it's not just a matter of making trick jumps. (85fps with vsync on, I could run 120fps without it but I don't like the tearing that goes with the uncoupled rates)


all told, this entire thread comes down to 1 thing:

The least favorable conditions for play determine how you play:


If you have lower fps, you don't hit shots with hitscan weps that look to be on target as often because what you are seeing and what the server is getting may not be the same thing depending on what frame you're seeing and what cycle the server is processing. if you played that way for years and got higher fps one day, your accuracy would skyrocket doing the same things.

If you don't use sound, yet you play insta against people who do, you have to aim faster than they do and fire, because they already know where you are.

these factors are huge in skillshot's gameplay. I've played him insta duel and ffa and in the open he almost always gets a shot off before me, and we don't have a 200ms ping difference. he will flickshot more often and more accurately than I do because I don't have to play that way when I have sound and I can pre-aim on an area to catch someone rounding an obstacle.

when it comes to corners, he will position himself to split the difference between doorways/entrances to a room so he can flick either one quickly, where I choose the one where I heard the opponent recently and wait for them. if he sees you peeking he isnt fooled into taking his xhair way from that door by jumping noises that to most would indicate your retreat.

i dont think its vsync toggle either cause i can notice tearing and stuff by changing my framerate around and i have it set to 1 and still RENDER at 250, with cl_async set to 1 and r_maxfps at 250 with cl_maxfps at 125... honestly have no idea what it does :/ maybe gl_swapinterval 0 performance increase is all in peoples heads?

It is funny to me when I come across someone jumping in one spot. I realize what they are doing but the circumstances that brought me there had nothing to do with the sound they were making. Players have tried using that tactic to prove I have sound. Eventually I stumble on them randomly and they say I heard them and came running. Kind of rediculous when you can move pretty quickly around an entire map. Most of the time though the person doesn't know I'm playing without sound and just looks crazy jumping up and down in one place.
