RIP

My uncle passed away last night as some of you may have heard from me in IRC, at the wheel in the wheelhouse of his tugboat specifically, doing what he loved..... but not as much as he loved music.

So I'm posting a few guitar clips by him..... this is by no means anything special by him(hence why I haven't posted any of it before) but it's all I have that's available to me. Hopefully I can get a hold of some of his tracks that make carlos santana and SRV eat their hearts out simultaneously (i'm only half-way joking, tbh).

If you recognize the name azroc by chance, it's no coincidence, yes it's the same azroc from q2. He started playing this game before I did, coincidentally, I've only seen him on once or twice though. He never did get to witness his nephew's reign of terror, unfortunate, I bet he would have been impressed.

What kinda guitars was he using? Sounds kinda like he's doing it pickless the 1st clip. I like blues lead players that can play without a pick well and give the strings a good pop, adds some grit and attitude to the sound.

He has around a dozen of them, RG, PRS, les paul, strat, SG, he has multiple of most of those, along with some good acoustics and semi-hollows.. his best SG is priced at several thousands of dollars, don't want to say it and be wrong but from what I remember, 8. And yeah, he's likely playing that pickless in that one, i've seen him incorporate it a lot. This is also the same relative of mine who I told you was proficient at that hendrix-esque technique we once discussed, using your thumb to typically play harmony/rhythm around the E and A strings and melody with his fingers. It even looked weird because he had fat/HUGE fingers(random note, it took about 10 guys to get him off the tug).

But yeah, I'm heading down there(FL) thursday, I'm hoping to snag some of his solo tracks that just scream carlos santana solo / SRV type solo to me. Most of the stuff on his soundcloud account are things he wrote for my younger cousins.

With older guitars, any Gibson or Fender that is pre-1970 is a premium priced guitar. As always, condition is a factor - most notably lack of neck breaks, original parts, electronics, and condition of the surface. Early 60's SGs are valuable as well as strats. You can check them out on the Les Paul Forum and the Fender Forum. E-bay too, I guess.

Anything Fender pre-CBS era (made before 1964 I think) is worth a fortune. If he's got one of those, you better beg, steal, kill, or whore to get ahold of it from whoever might be holding it after he passed. Then HOLD ON TO THAT SHIT. DO NOT SELL IT EVER. Shit like that will probably be valued like Fabergé jewelry is right now in another 100 years.

RIP Azroc.  Important that you stated he died doing what he loved. Still not easy losing a loved one.  My condolences to you and your family.
