well i looked at few DM maps and i thought it could be overall improved. of course it is taboo to even think of such a thing. besides these changes are relatively minor and would have no negative effect on any of the maps. however i do believe it would just add a little more balance to it.Of Course i know i will get those "purists" who will strongly disagree, and others who will flame this thread for my ideas. however If no-one dared to be so bold, inventions and discoveries would have never been made.

for example the lightbulb, magellan setting sail or even christopher columbus making new discoveries. of course my ideas aren't near as big,  :beer: they are merely a drop in the bucket by comparison. no, my meager contributions aren't grand, but that's how things start with.. it also gives rise to other ideas.. so, stating that, i will be so bold as to humbly submit, my proposed changes to the following maps.. so let's discuss.

Ptrip:
replaced the bandolier and added a hyperblaster
replaced the shards with 2 cells, a shotgun w/ shells and a jacket armor

Rage:
Update. removed 1 bullet ammo box and replaced it with shells by the downward steps. removed  2 shells boxes and added a shotgun and shell ammo box in corner by the super shotgun. (should balance out number) added hyperblaster to the corner of the red armor and machinegun to end of hallway by mega.

More map ideas as they are played.




keep the item alterring for your advantage on your own shit server.

Your ideas are flimsy and they don't disguise your intent to make your own suckitude less apparent by making maps easier to run like a bitch and spam shit.
You don't know the first thing about mapping and item balance or you could actually explain yourself without resorting to more of the same stupidity.

There are reasons that both of those simple and small duel maps don't have every item in q2, including the HB.

They boil down to balance.

To put an overpowered automatic weapon that eats thru armor right next to the RA and adrenaline and CG on Rage, is fucking stupid. It would just make camping RA (which is the gist of your only strategy on that map) even easier for newbies, and it would make the map unplayable to anyone on the downhill side where rg resides.

Instead of fucking up the maps with stupid item placement ala spawngirl, learn to think and plan and use the stuff on them that years of playtesting by better players (seasoned veterans) have verified to be ideal just as they are.

feel free to try to hide the truth of this by deleting it like you do to every post you cannot respond to.

I will just post it again in a new thread and make it sit right on fucking top of yours. I'll even enlist a couple others to bump it all day so you can cry on your keyboard that your stupid opinion is not "on top".

yes the HB is overpowered. so is the single shotgun. that's why i never see players using it.  :sarcastic: :ohlord:

i always rape with the hyper blaster... i fucking love that gun... and it rips people to pieces very fast...

but putting it into ptrip or rage would ruin those particular maps, they already have a really fun style that is very balanced and has no need for hyper

also, deleting my previous post doesnt make you awesome, it makes you pathetic :) your idea is stupid, deal with it when some one points it out

oh and i wonder how long it will take for you to delete this one...

seeing the title says some "DM" map idea updates, i just have to say both ztn2dm3 and ptrip are useless DM maps. ztn2dm3 would have to be my fav map if i play the odd 1 on 1 tdm because i find its a well balanced map already, that doesn't need to be changed. ptrip i have never liked.  Anyways both maps are poor to play on for dm especially if there is 6 or more ppl. thats just my opinion though

i like DM to be left q2dm1 to q2dm8. if you want to do something maybe learn how to make maps instead of just placing items randomly around the place

NO ONE wants your input on anything related to Tastyspleen or it's servers. NO ONE cares about your amateur ideas. NO ONE will ever even play your lame overrides and they will never be added to a testing server on Tastyspleen. you have ZERO credibility or respect when it comes to ANYTHING related to quake. this post just adds more proof to how desperate you are to get some kind of acceptance or validation in the tiny quake community that still cares. every new idiotic, waste of time, lame post from you just makes me really think you are trying so hard to prove that you are an obtuse fool that even Forest Gump himself would laugh at. i'm beginning to seriously wonder if you have some form of autism or mental defect. not joking.

also, why does he think that more weapons = balance? rage is like THE most balanced q2 1v1 map... maybe duel5 would be more balanced but not by much

To JaQuIO(so my posts won't get deleted, again):

Can you please just tell me why you think hyperblaster will make the map more balanced? How will "completion of weapon selection"(adding hyperblaster + cells) balance each of these maps in regard to the map's style of play, geometry, spawns, other item placement, etc. and additionally concerning where you place each new item?

I am not trolling you. I am encouraging you to at least generally tell us what adding hyperblaster will truly add to the equation, for each map, in your own words. This is mandatory, being that "completion of weapon selection" is insufficient reasoning in regard to how complex 1v1/TDM is. Repeatedly saying " for completion of weapon selection" just repeatedly demonstrates why these proposals will not be taken seriously.

BTW(Acer), I checked out dlite, I like ptrip way more. That one looks better for ffa, though. Way more spawns and more weapons...

it stinks to me of an attempt to make sure he can at least get his hand on one spamming weapon in a duel so he can run fearfully and fire behind him for a couple extra seconds before he gets steamrolled.

BTW: This is what haunted is talking about:

Explain the positive and negative effects of placing the HB and cells on these two small duel maps.

You say here that "there would be no negative effects" yet pretty much everyone is saying that there would be.
