Thanks, ill wait for other pple comments!
Actually, there are many advantages for MAC, and of course some inconvenients...
These machines are much better than a normal PC, that is of course because of capatibility issues on PC, and the fact that APPLE pretty much develops everything like it's OS and hardware.
Also, as a pro Web Designer and Music maker, the performance of a MAC is wayyyyyyyy better than a PC. Also, you will never have some spyware on a MAC and rarely viruses. Everything is much more easy to work with than on a Windows platform. Anyhow, the main disavantage is that games and software are sometimes not compatible with Mac OS.
I guess it all depends on what you do on your computer, but i have made the decision, i'm getting the new IMAC Intel Core duo G5 20inch computer!

A friend of mine is in the Newspaper publishing business, She says MAC's are best for that. Her personal comp is a IBM. AND YES YOU CAN play Quake on a MAC, you just need to get the MAC v. of Quake II
Peace

www.apple.com
may have it in downloads, else search for Quake2v1.0.8.dmg.gz.
I've run it on a G5 with a 30" display,

With the move to Intel, the new Macs have the potential to be the high-end platform of choice dual booting (or emulating) both OSX and Windows XP/Longhorn/Vista.

I never really liked the look of mac systems, or the OS GUI, never has appealed to me, and of course the lack of software compatibility completely puts me off wanting to even touch one, *Windows + PC All the way brothas* lol.. no im sure that in time id come to prefer them, just like if id give Linux a chance, id probably get used to / want to keep using it, but right now, my roots are firmly winders and such..

hey sinner,
I currently play on a G5 with dula processors, it kicks ass as far as smoothness goes. Just pm me for the file you will need - the directory is identical you just don't use the .exe
There is also a program similar to the All Seeing Eye or gamespy called Gameranger. let me know on that though it is available here --->

I too use a mac for publishing - I am the editor for a weekly newspaper and though hold several certications for PC's - i much prefer the mac for everything now -

PPC Mac's = Shit* (For games) (note not The Shit that would be good)
Intel Mac's = Maybe who knows, they might just get some decent games, and with developers having to make OS X Intel games, that might also make Linux versions easer to port

HOW DARE YOU DEFILE THESE FORUMS WITH THE DREADED "M" WORD!!
iv got nothing against mac, i havent really used one. no doubt that they run better then a PC, though as you said the software and hardware for the most part is made by apple. and only a very tiny fraction of viruses and spyware work on them
but the software and hardware options are very limited, so untill then, i unfortunatly
im still stuck with windowz
i do dream of the day when a company makes an OS as compatible as windows, with stability of mac/linux, and isnt in any way affiliated with microshit

I used to feel the same way about all the Amiga's I owned/own.
I also missed out on the original Castle Woflenstein, all the Dooms, and Quake 1.
Life got infinitely better when I got a PC.
I don't think much has changed.
If you are not writing a book, publishing a magazine or working for a newspaper, seriously, save yourself a lot of grief and buy a pc.
Spend the same amount of money you are going to spend on a MAC (don't scrimp) and you can get a hell of a PC.
I'm only stating my opinion based on my experience. Nobody get offended
(I still have my amigas too)
