thats the whole point we have strict guidelines for posting.  when it finally does get big, it will be easier to navigate that way.

why should there be guidelines to demos u post...  If your claiming the reason is so it's easier to find the demo's u want..

u can just type the persons name u wanna see demos for and search that way quite easily.

I hate to agree with Granny here (I really REALLY hate to), but I think plastik is going a little overboard with all of this. If people are posting demos with completely idiotic names then I see no harm in changing them, but people should be able to title shit however they please (like I said to an extent). That doesn't really bother me much, but the locking everyone of the threads that has a few posts on it is a little over the top. If people want to argue or shit talk each other I say let them. It's part of the community and gaming in general. If it bothers you don't click on a post that [TC]Granny made. Everyone should be smart enough to come to the conclusion that a thread started by him is going to have shit talking in it. The most idiotic thing of all of this is plastik claiming that his over use of his moderating abilities is for 'ease of searching'. Sorry we're not stupid, don't act like you're helping us out here. The lesson learned here is, stop being  locking threads, kthx!

See the problem is, and while I agree that sometimes plastik has made an unjust decision (in my eyes), with the flaming and stuff, good demos get buried away, and where the good minicomp demo's that DaHanG posted, will probably never see the light of day again soon, to be hidden under a vast array of crap like [TC]Granny OWNS so and so, with dm1 demos that arent all that interesting, the demo's part aint really to prove you are almighty you know , and console created a section for shit talking anyway, its right above the demo section, or called the entropy pool.

You are talking about demos getting buried by other demos, isnt the entire point of this for "ease of searching"?. So then what does it matter if Granny posts 20 owns demos? Most of the shit talking is about the demo in the first place. It would be kind of odd to be shit talking about a certain demo in a different section of the forum. My point was basically what is the point of locking a thread when it has a few posts on it? How in ANYWAY does that make it "harder to search for demos"? Unfortunately good demos are going to get buried by other demos people post, that is simply the reality of the situation. That is the drawback of having demos posted on a forum. The layout of q2players.org was quite nice with how the demos were set up. It got a little out of hand at a point once evilpope stopped caring and didn't fix some of the problems, but it did work well. The forums were seperate, but you could still post comments on the demos. Which by the way some of the demos would have over a 100 comments on them. People like posting things about the demo.

Course they do, I understand that, i'm not entirely clued up about the ease of searching bit either, it's not like theres a way to search for demo's other than though forum search, and that aint a demo searcher. I dunno.

I tend to agree.  Not a big fan of locking topics.  Usually if a topic starts to get excessively rude/mean/obnoxious/spammy I just move the last few posts (wherever it started getting too nasty) over to the Entropy Pool, and leave the original topic in a cleaner, but open state.

Well the "Advanced Search" does allow searching only particular boards, and searching only the topic/subject, for instance.

I figured myself, that locking topics rather than moving them to entropy was a better decision.  People complain more so when their topics are moved/deleted to the entropy pool.  The topics I did lock, seemed to already have run their course, and by the end, completely off topic.  Though another problem which I have seen is no one is following the posting guidelines, which are specifically for making searches much easier.  Most of them are named correctly, but more of the newer posts are not.  The whole point of searching is because you may want to watch a certain mod with certain players on a certain map, or something along those lines.  Got a big match against someone?  watch their demo's so you can study them.   Check out jump demo's to learn how to do jumps you never could, it's not just about people showing off their demo's, but also learning from them.  Anyways, If moving certain posts to entropy is more acceptable, then that it what will be done.  I know people like to shit talk, including me at times, but at times people can get very vulgar and out of hand.  These types of posts are what is unwanted and targeted.  I locked them mainly to keep them from growing in such a way.

Right, i didn't mean move the whole topic... It's kind of a PITA in terms of mouse clicks, but what I usually do is "split" the topic, at whatever point the noise started, and name the new topic "original name - entropy". Then I move the new topic into Entropy, leaving the less-noisy original topic intact.
