is there an easy way to differentiate between a spawned or dropped item?

I'm assuming there must be since dropped items disappear after 30 sec.  Not sure of the specifics though.


This will only fix ammo drops.

if 10 or 15 players change there to a dif skin 5 to 10 time on a map where the CS_MODELS  is close to max server will crash - out of configstrings / overflow finding index models

It'd be simple to implement, but what stopped me was the realization I'd have to make this change to every mod... vanilla, xatrix, coop, etc.



is it possible to remove the +ia to traps only?
theres a drop bug with the traps too.

and +ia at xatrix is totally unplayable!!

Whenever someone +ia's a map, I always find myself dropping nades everywhere, and the map gets covered in them.  :evilking:

But that was a different game, and it was probably someone else doing it.

For what it's worth, I've played IA hundreds of times and never seen the server crash for any reason. And quantities of dropped nades have been anywhere from zero to saturation. Originally a dropped nade was to give someone who spawned a "weapon" and a small chance of survival. Then it evolved into dropping them simply for absurdity. I don't think the dropped ammo is the cause. On my old LagClan server we ran infinite ammo for years with nary a crash.

Yep. More specifically this flag is used to prevent you from picking up the item again right away. Should be something like binary adding "IT_DROPPED" on spawn flags.

Why is the vanilla server called vanilla?

It was initially named in contrast to mutant.

The original idea for mutant was that in addition to having custom maps and textures, it would also have something like "mymap on steroids" which allowed not just dmflags changes, but also flags to change the gameplay of the mod in various ways (weapon damage, rocket speed, max health, etc.)

Thus "mutant" meant that the gameplay was supposed to be mutable, whereas  "vanilla" meant original gameplay on mostly original maps and textures.

But I never did develop the gameplay-modifying version of mymap; so mutant's name has less of a literal meaning than originally intented...

Yep. More specifically this flag is used to prevent you from picking up the item again right away. Should be something like binary adding "IT_DROPPED" on spawn flags.

Why would you need to add more code ?

The Q2Admin is able to block player cmds.

That is how its set on the coop servers, because cheats are enabled there, and Q2Admin blocks some of the give cmds.
