Really?  You've made posts questioning the thread split decision, prompting me to write a patient reply, and then you delete the reply?

There seems to be a communication barrier in effect, somehow, although I'm unsure yet who is misunderstanding whom.

In any case, when I read the following statements, I interpreted them as expressing some degree of confusion over the thread split decision:

Which prompted me to post a reply.

I would think that the ADIMN that split this thread is BAD decision.

In that case, it may be worth taking the time to explain my position, in the hopes of reducing the potential for confusion going forward.

The way I look at it, the Quake board is indexed by {Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.}, whereas the Entropy Pool board is not seen by search engines.

The last thing I want some random stranger to see when "Googling" tastyspleen, are posts that appear to be advocating vandalism of the QuakeCon hotel, or posts calling for someone's teeth to be knocked out and brought home as trophies.

Presumably, many forum members would recognize such incitements as 'jokes', which is why these posts were split to their own thread in Entropy rather than simply deleted (as they surely would have been if I'd thought them to be serious.)

As such, the purpose of the split was not to cause your original QUAKECON 2011 thread to become locked; but rather relocate a few "blue comedy" posts to Entropy, for those who like that sort of thing.

If you still feel splitting the thread was a "BAD decision", then I'd be interested to hear your reasoning.

I think you're right about it just being confusion. We tend to police ourselves to only let quake related chatter go on in there. Most of the time it's: "Hey, I made a new mod!" and everyone says "Cool, make more!". Sometimes we even get: "Hey I made YET ANOTHER change to KOTS" and everyone says "Umm so?" or "Why? That mod sucks!". Either way it's directly related to quake.

So anyway the responses were no longer about quake so therefore it was split. That's entirely in-the-ordinary for this forum.

The same conversation on dev/random would probably have gone untouched.

id pay for it myself just havent been able to set aside the spare cash this year due to schooling expenses and stuff
