It is nice to see that there is now a Xatrix server up and running. It is a mission pack that was released after quake 2 first came out. Then a few years ago there was a bundle that came with Quake 2

I joined the server to d/l the goods last night but by the time I was able to try it out, everyone had left.... I will be joining at some point when my weekend slows down...deadlines ya know...

which one is the phalanx? the rocket thingy? or the one that shoots those little orange triangle?

What is good with xatrix? I know it is with new patch for quake2 3.20 but I never play it. Normal quake2 is best.

Xatrix is Quake 2. It's actually called "THE RECKONING"
Xatrix Entertainmen is the name of the company who got the job to make it.
(Like Raven making Q4)
It is an official expansion pack for Q2.
Same game just new maps and a few new weapons.

The new weapons are nice. I like the trap. Nothing beats running around a corner and smack into a trap. Someone yesterday place a trap at the top of an elevator. I got to the top and zap right into it. Both mission packs are fun and a nice change from vanilla. I bought Ground Zero and the Reckoning the first day they went on sale. You could say that Xatrix is mutant on steroids.

the traps never ever cease to be funny to me. I always laugh whenever someone gets sucked into one (except me)

maybe at some point down the road we could get one of the seldom used ip's and make it a Ground Zero server?

getting this xatrix set up though, has filled a big hole in my life! well my online gaming life I mean, (gawd I need to get a life

here is the trap found in the awakening2 mod

"These orange spider-like devices will stick to the first surface they hit, and wait for an opponent to come within range. Once an opponent is within range, the trap will shoot out a hook at them. Ive never played awakenings, its a mod I havnt played that many.

reckoning and ground zero arent really mods as much as continuations of the same game authorized by Id
