wtf is mplayer?i just know its a media player in linux...
I think I remember playing a very little bit of Half-Life and CS on mplayer.com. It's hard to remember back then (2000), but playing both games on WON was a much more enjoyable experience.

It was Valve's old master server query system before they switched to Steam. The nice thing about WON was ran in-game, so you didn't to run a third-party application to find servers. Apparently the idea of WON is still popular: http://v5.steamlessproject.nl/index.php?page=won2
I guess there was never a patch or anything for Q2, to install support for WON?

I never actually looked at the server browser in Q2 till now and no surprise people needed gamespy and mplayer. This browser is terrible!
