No. I'm just wondering why the powers-that-be placed a weapon in a fatal location. Is it a new sort of trap for BFG junkies?

It's an 'easter egg'.

Falling in the slime behind the upper rocket launcher was already a death sentence (theoretically one could rocket+grenade jump out of it, but in practical terms escape is highly unlikely.)

Since anyone falling in that slime was destined to melt anyway, the teleporter to the BFG slime pit is intended to provide the option of a brief last hurrah before one succumbs to the inevitability of the acid.

How can you give a 'brief last hurrah' with an unusable weapon?

OK, you can fire it up through that little gap by the red armour, but the chances of hitting anyone from there before you get melted in the slime is pretty slight to say the least.

I think you should promote it as a trap for BFG junkies.

i did manage to get several frags using that bfg.. it all depends on the timing and number of players who eventually rushes on the red armor.

I think there is a red armor together with the bfg. that gives you time to try the 4 shots
