I'm thinking about getting a new desktop, but I'm worried that I won't be able to load Quake 2 onto it because the game is now so old.

Will the latest desktops still accept & load Quake 2?

Any advice appreciated

I don't want to spend $800 - $1000 on a new computer only to find it won't load Q2.

As a fellow Quake 2 player I'm sure you can understand my anxiety around this issue.

I'm just worried that the game may be too old for a new computer to recognise or accept.

I was able to drag the whole folder containing the already installed game and years of maps models and addons from my old computer's harddrive into my new one's c: drive and run it without problems despite the old running XP and the new one Vista. Did the same to my ancient version of Photoshop when it refused to install normally.

yes I am sure. Tell you what...load the game to a thumbdrive and get the sales rep to let you test it first. There yah go.
