I'm going to get in contact with Pappy and see what we can do to help keep PQ going. This could range anywhere from "Thanks but we can't solicit volunteers to help" to a full fledged revival effort.

I'll let you know what I find out. In the mean time I would love to pre-emptively hear from people who are willing to write daily news blurbs, regardless of whether or not we are allowed to submit them to PQ.

I admit that it's been something that's been hurting me for a while. I'd been quietly going around from community to community, and couldn't find too many people enthused about contributing. Though misplaced, the hurt from the loss of content made for a lot of sore responses. I've really got to hand it to Pappy for giving it his all even when he was the only one contributing.

My loathing of IGN knows no bounds, and I'm really pissed off that they didn't sit down and figure out exactly what the Quake community would respond positively too, turning PQ into the ad revenue it cares about. Instead, they just shrugged it off as non-active, and didn't pay it a second thought.

Pappy, I'll probably be contacting you in IRC, but I'd like it publicly known that I (and We if I can be so bold) don't want this to be the end of your involvement with efforts to unify Quake. I imagine that the entire experience has been rather draining on you, but I wonder if jumping into a larger, more enthusiastic group of people could help reinvigorate you.

I don't think it was really a community in the sense that you're thinking of. It was more of a place to find out pretty much everything there is to know about all things Quake. With it gone, all of the separate communities devoted to one of the Quake games will probably seem a lot more farther apart.

Exactly, TS could E_X_P_A_N_D to accommodate that type of community.
There is certainly enough talent here to do it.

Yes, Quadz would be busy indeed, however he could allocate the extra work to some of the other TS admins or members.

lol even i would go to planetquake for the occasional info or file... they had some really sweet stuff on the site...

hopefully quakeunity doesnt drop too need at least one site where i can go and search for general quake stuff...
