well for one... a lot of people already know you can grep hilarious shit out of the source code of your kernel, just have to be good at guessing what you are looking for.... curse words are a good start, but i personally didnt find any from my debian squeeze kernel or my liqourix kernel (didnt look very hard though, like 3 minutes or so is all), so google is just better to find funny shit like that because other people have already found it in different kernels and there is no need for you to dig all day long

two...have you ever looked at the source code for a kernel? FUCK THAT, its an entire operating system, would take ages just to thumb through it...

and three, aptitude and apt-get are programs so that wouldnt show up in the "distros" source code... by which i think you mean the kernel... i know plenty of easter eggs, there is apt-get moo that kicks back an ascii cow, you can do free the fish in a gnome run box and have a fish swimming on your desktop, you can get the answer to life in both kde run box and vi you can make a certain kernel say your printer is on fire lol there is a lot of hilarious shit in linux... as far as other OS's go, the only easter egg i can think of for windows off the top of my head is godmode, which is quite awesome
