Custom colormap.pcx

So recently I have been trying to get a railtrail similar to the shuper frags and jumps video. With the yellow one.

And currently, I'm using the bright blue railtrail colormap.

It was either that or the crystal one.

I've tried coloring it with wally, quark, paint... nothing is working. Even when the colormap is clearly yellow, it still shows up as the bright blue colormap. Is there anyway to color a colormap to make the railtrail yellow like in the shuper frags and jumps vid?

I thought the colormap.pcx file only is used when you're in software mode.

Nope. :) It affects all .pcx files, OpenGL or not.

Still want the yellow railtrail colormap though. :!:

I'm pretty sure the colormap works along with both software and 3d accel renderers.

You're probably using a client like R1Q2+r1gl. Is it possible to make a colormap in PNG format that will actually work?

Don't know. Just want a yellow railtrail colormap :-\ I'm sure the Q2 color palette supports plain yellow.

you'd need to pretty much color all of the blue squares in your colormap.pcx a similar value of yellow.

every blue texture you see will end up yellow tho, and there's not much you can do about it.

in that case, make sure you only have one colormap.pcx.
make a copy of it. color the entire fucker yellow using wally.

check all of your paks and the "pics" folder in every mod folder for any other colormap.pcx files

then try out the all yellow one.

post the results :)

Well, I deleted my colormap from pak0, (don't worry, I saved it ;) ). I still see bright blue. I colored the bright blue colormap over with yellow, but I don't understand why it's still showing as blue.

Here's the pak with the colormap that I'm using. If you open it, it's yellow where the blue for the railgun would be. But it still shows up as bright blue for me.

It would be easier to ask R1CH (or whoever maintains your client of choice) to add a console variable for the rail trail color.  As an added bonus, doing it that way won't mess up everything else that's supposed to be blue.

I use AprQ2. There's no cl_railtrail cvar for it. That's why I'm asking for a yellow colormap. :>

Also, there is a cl_railtrail cvar for R1Q2, so why would I ask him?  :evilgrin:

I think its hard coded. Its easy to change the trail in EGL
