how to wallhack without cheating....

A server that allows cheats would provide a level playing field for all. So it's my guess that a cheater would not want to play there.

your forgetting about those that are skilled but yet still cheat.  Sure, it won't probably attract cheaters as much.  But a wallhack is only letting you see where people are, you still have to aim and pull the trigger correctly to make the kill.  If you have no moving/aiming skills, it's not worth shit to have a wallhack except for the fun of it.

well, in my opinion, people should have the freedom to have even the worst cheats on their machine (this is after all, an so called "free country") , no matter how legit they are, BUT it is never to be used on any public server.

there is only 2 reason a person will have a cheat on their machine, to use it, or to modify it.  I've seen console ban a few people just for having cheats on their machine, regardless whether they were using them or not, because like i said before, people can modify them so they are less detectable.  example, bots...people change to firing fov to 35 degrees so they are less detectable...ie..you won't see them shooting out of their ass.  you can also program bots to miss occaisonally very easily.  as long as there is games, there will be cheats, and they will try to make them as undetectable as possible.  also, omega's comment about this being a free country...if you really we're submersed in the real world, you wouldn't make that statement, even with quotations.  because nothing is free in this world, let alone USA.  no disrespect intended.  do you really think a person will have a working cheat and not use it on public servers?  also, alot of people that come to TS don't even live in the USA, so for some, it's not a 'free country'.  though, there is not many more cheats for q2 out, except maybe those created individually. and i doubt theres many of them at all.  but from my perspective, if you have cheats, then you searched for them hardcore style, because I've only been able to locate a few q2 cheats online.  i am unable to locate any wallhacks online, but bots are easy, it's just that none of them work much anymore.   most exploits aren't intentional though, they are found by accident.

i don't think the server allows people to have hax on thier computers at all.  And i support this idea.  i'm sure they dont want to have to take the time to spec people the whole time they are playing to see whether or not they are using the hacks they have on thier computers.  It would not be fair to the admins.

It is a free world.  Cheats can find another server to play on other then TS, that is fine by me.  Cheats can also kiss my ass.

whoops..  I have a working wallhack,  shows all entities thru walls..  has settings, like solid walls, solid walls with wallhack,  transparent walls, or wireframe. 

and,  just cause its there doesnt mean I use it.     When I found it, (which was damn easy, prolly took all of 5 minutes with goodle) I had the full intention of hacking away with it.   I found it very late one night after I was done playing,  tried it out on an empty server.  Was so excited the whole next day,  couldnt wait to get home and see just how good you could be with it.
I was playing all rails at the time.   got home..  fired it up.  played thru about 3 or 4 games before I realized it just wasnt that much fun.  getting called a hack when you are hacking for me was as equally unpleasant as getting called one when you arent IS pleasant.   if that makes sense...

  I moved it off to a separate folder from q2,  and keep it around for checking demos n shit,  suspected hackers, or even more fun, watching your own demos to see just how good yer predictions were,  and see how ppl behave behind closed walls

  I did leave it in my q2 folder one time after watching a demo.  which console did find, and spoke to me about.   That impressed me quite a bit,  that they could see that shit.   Be it false,  but I like the sense of sucurity I have playing at Tasty.

yes, but console does miss ALOT of potential hack files.  I guarantee I can get a few, put them in my q2 folder, use them or not, and still not be found out.  an old hack that still works I think is the quake2 ID hack, where it allows access to your orginal q2 client via packet spoof from id softwares old IP address.  I've never myself seen it exploited though.  It could be hoaxed, but I doubt it.  Anyways, console does do a good jobs keeping the haks off the server.

Typically, we'll ask people nicely to remove their hax files if we detect them.  (Because, indeed, they may not be using them.)  The banning usually happens when we record a demo confirming a hack appears to be being used.

That's the general idea, anyway.  (If the admin on duty is in a bad mood, who knows, maybe the could happen with less provocation.  But we try to ask nicely first, in general.)

Yes, our automated scans are far from perfect.  (If anyone would like to PM me about hacks they are aware of and would like us to detect, please do.)  But that's why we still rely on human volunteer admins who record demos.  Automated scans are nice - but people watching demos is the true last line of defense.

I agree, people's demo's are much better proof than saying 'they are using a hack!'  but the q2 community is relatively secure from hacks in my opinion.  its not like its chaos out there with them. I don't blame the admins for banning people, even if they aren't using the hacks they have in their q2 folder.  Simply put, it shouldn't be there in the first place unless there is an intention of use.  though it is nice to ask them nicely first, it should only be optional.

I don't remember their names, I was more into the game than worrying about them.  But 2 of them as I recall I've never seen before.

i dont think but just a very few ip's are banned from TS.  i think the admins hold bans for all but the worst cases.  You probably see people get kicked alot.  i think that is probably just to get thier attention.  Ditzu and the notorious Chalupa are the only bans i know of.  For a server with such a large population, i think it is rather surprising how few bans there are.  Perhaps vgaSlugz is banned, there is a demo of him wallhacking in the cheats demos.

In general, i think it takes repetitive harmful actions to produce a ban at TS.  One time slips of mind arent dealt with harshly or permanently from what i can see.
