Yes. Biologically, I think a celibate or homosexual person has failed in fulfilling the ultimate purpose of life: They have failed to contribute to the continuation of life by failing to create life - which (I think) is the ultimate purpose of life.

Once again, though, that doesn't mean a celibate or homosexual person can't do great things while he or she is alive - but nature is ruthless, and no matter what that person does, they are little more (biologically) than the equivalent of a week-old piece of meat going rotten in the back of your refrigerator:

1. Useless (not contributing to the gene pool),

2. Possibly harmful (using up resources which might otherwise be used by fertile couples),

3. Taking up space (again; limited resources).

That sounds harsh, but nature is a harsh old lady...

Quadz - again - I think you're looking at this issue on a molcular level, while I (hope) am looking at it as it relates to actual human beings.

My girlfriend has a rare(1% of all kidney stones / are denser than calcium, and too dense to be broken up by a lithotripsy... aka very bad shit) type of kidney stone disease which in severe cases, they pass stones during every single urination. It is not likely that she/we will be able to have a child. We've been planning our engagement this summer... So what am I, condemning myself to an ultimately purposeless life by marrying her? I think the fact that I am man enough to commit to a woman with this kind of disorder is life-defining / purposeful in itself.

Serious question - I'm curious!!

Their "survival" instinct. They cluster when it's cold and maintain a core temp of around 93 F (approx 35C). Below 55-60F they freeze to death. Rather than break cluster and freeze - they starve. Contrary to some opinions, I see a lot of same behavior in humans....
