can i download maps to a hard disk at work, it would be a whole lot easier for me to get the new maps on cable here. then load on my home computer? say yes

Absolutely. When you say "Hard disk at work", are you going to take an entire hard drive with you and hook it up there?  Can be done, for sure, but cumbersome.  One of those USB Pen drives might work just as well if you had one with enough capacity.  Or, if you could burn a cd at work, that's an option.

Yeah, a USB HDD (such as [ this ] Iomega 160GB External USB HDD), or a USB "keychain" (I've got a 128MB Lexar from Wal-Mart, for only $40 or so -- btw, the xquake maps + the extra players.zip and sound.zip files, totals up to only ~105MB, so a 128MB USB keychain should suffice), or even something like [ this ] to turn a normal HDD into a USB HDD.

There's also the CD-R/RW option that Slikkster pointed out.

Good luck with whatever option you choose though.

o.k., o.k., i've again shown my computer inadequacy again. i was talking about a cd, as opposed to a floppy, which to me, since its "floppy", is soft. hence the cd would be hard. GREAT! i''l see you boys on the new maps soon then.

Hey man. Ah, there's just a good amount of stuff on my plate right now.. I need to sign up with an online tech school soon (for the education of course, but also to be able to stay on my dad's insurance for next year heh).. I'm trying to get a job at this new Wal-Mart Super Center around here, with my mom, and sooner or later, I need to finish up this website for the parent company of my WISP..  there's much to be done, and I've just been sitting around  heh.  Hopefully I'll get things sorted out and under control though.

How have you been though? I hope things are good for you as well.

Well, I might not just give it to him..  maybe for $5 though    I just have a few little things on it, like a few basic programs and drivers, plus my latest q2 config and a backup of that website I'm working on. hehe
