some one connected on t4 and anticheat kicked back a TON of modified files, lots of weapons on both male and female... possible nose pak, but idk if this is the weapon others see or the weapon you see so not entirely sure... worth posting i thought just cause some one else would know better than me

still reckon irtdm check list should be for all servers, and it would kick someone for those failed files. would be interesting to see if people played differently if they couldn't use modified files. absinth was booted from irtdm for 5 failed files and refused to remove them.

This doesn't unequivocally mean the person was using cheats. Just means they were using unknown models along with anticheat. I think the more important question would be is this person FORCED to use AC for prior instances of hacked models etc?

to fail 5 file checks all you have to do is download careem's pak. altered rg_hum and step1-4.wav... most likely what absinth had. It's "legal" in edl, ndml, and all the euro leagues. Being that he pretty much only plays on the dm server, it doesn't matter at all.....

Failed files doesn't mean bad files, those file checks kick people for harmless shit like custom sounds....so if anyone wants to play there with a custom build, they have to re-do everything which is a headache.  No ty.

technically, TS already uses the same list of checks, with a few exceptions which I added to mine that are specifically targetted at a certain swedish faggot (bundle of sticks) and his "hax". (quadz may or may not have implemented them on his list)

The main difference is in the bad file action setting, which on mine results in a kick for any more than 0 bad files, and which on TS is set to just report your files no matter how many are bad.

Quadz could set an arbitrary number as the maximum (say 3 files) and it would kick people who showed more than that on connect, but this action by itself could easily dissuade people who were choosing to use AC from continuing to do so in the future if they really like their "custom" resources.

Making that choice comes down to what you're attempting to do with the server, and on IRTDM I have a couple goals that probably differ from his:

1: have most of the regular people using AC when I check at random
2: anyone using AC should actually be legit, not just say ac valid and have 20 bad checks that are questionable
3: keep people who have forced AC as honest as possible while they are connected (similar to above) so I don't have to ban huge numbers of IPs to keep out the riffraff.

The downside to my way is that server traffic is lower than it could be, because some people just refuse to use (or are too dumb to know they aren't using) stock resources.
I don't mind the tradeoff personally, since I don't find that attitude or stupidity to be conducive to sportsmanlike play, which is expected from anyone who shows up there.

Both of them are regularly used to give someone an advantage in what sounds from their opponent can be heard from great distance, and this has been done in almost every modern FPS game with footstep sounds.

check the 'custom' ones that are readily available and you'll be able to verify that very rarely is it just a more appealing sound but instead it's a louder/sharper sound meant to make people hear every step or be able to identify someone's location by the loud hum of their gun.

as for the file checks forcing people to re-do "everything", that's also not 100% true.

The relatively straightforward act of placing that .pak file in your quake2/tourney folder should remove any kicks you are getting due to my checks for legit sounds and player/weapon models.
Anyone who wants to can download it and verify that I didn't stick some scary backdoor trojan shit in there.

Yeah dervish, I agree with you on that. Even though you addressed that to armor, I'd like to say that I just meant that under the circumstances ( 1. him most likely not knowing he's doing anything questionable with the pak and 2. I have only ever seen him play ffa), I think that telling absinth to get rid of his files (also dependent on what they are) is likely to be a waste of energy.

Well to anyone who thinks IR is being totally nazi on the file checks... we ain't. I have shitloads of non-stock sounds in my pak, which is available for anyone to download on my page. It's not the exact same pak I use though, the only thing different in the pak I currently use from the last one I uploaded is the health icon. A health icon pic can never be used as a hack.

absinth failed files consists of 4 steps and a railgun hum, alot of peop[le on dm complain about him hitting corner shots and accuse him of walling, when instead he is just using the loud steps as an advantage. you can use sound anyways to listen for people comming around a corner but if they steps r extremely loud it does give an advantage and i don't see why those sorts of files can't be a kickable offense, especially if he refuses to remove them he is almost admitting the fact he gets a distinct advantage from using something like that and he knows it
